COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Five beer enthusiasts with a common passion for historic brewing came together to create this distinct Polish beer style in the most authentic way we can think of after the brewery in Grodzisk Wielkopolski closed in 1993. It is brewed by Jopen and Monarchy of Musselland together with the beer writers Ron Pattinson and Evan Rail. We use 100% oak-smoked wheat malt, have the exact same gravity of 7.7 degrees Plato, employed classic Lublin hops and fermented with the original yeast. As the town once and again today belongs to Poland, but in the meantime was part of Prussia, there are two different names for the style: Grodziskie and Grätzer. Our research found that brewers also formerly used willow bark in brewing which we thought was an interesting variation. That is why we are offering two different takes on the style: a classic version bearing the name "Grätzer"and a willow bark version called "Grodziskie".

caesar (7156) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - FEB 1, 2013
Bottled. Pours a cloudy yellow color, small but lasting white head. Aroma of a summer campfire or winter BBQ with strawberry marshmallows. Soft flowery hoppy tones as well. Slight sweet and medium bitter. Dry touch of the malt, but also quite a full bodied beer (salt provides body if i’m correct). Easy drinker, full of flavor for such a low ABV. Very nice brew!

Very intersting new beer, as close to the original style as possible. Easy going beer with a great taste, luckily low in alcohol. Breadish, soft, not too smoky, balanced. I really enjoyed this. Not easy to distinguish from the Grodziskie (samerecipe with willow-bark added) however.

kerolasa (409) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 26, 2013
Interesting a little sour beer. Strongest aromas are yeast related, but there is nice amount of smokiness in this one as well. Enjoyable, and special.

jerohen (2296) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - JUL 10, 2013
Bottled from Biernavigatie.nl. Cloudy golden colored, thick white head. Very smoked nose, reminiscent of Schlenkerla Lagerbier, some wheat perhaps. Very bitter flavor, quite yeasty, easy to drink, surprisingly thick mouthfeel considered its ABV. Just a little bit too bitter for me, but otherwise a very nice low alcohol beer.

Bottle. Orange, apple, smoked ham, and rye bread aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with nice head. Mildly sweet apple, smoked meat and bready barley malt flavor. Nicely blended. Delicious.

33 cl. pours amber with a lasting disc of spongy foam. Pleasant nose of smoked toffee apple. Tastes of earthy cocoa, apple, caramel and smoke. Light-medium body has medium carbonation and an excellent balance. Reminds me of a quality alt with a nice dose of smoke added.

obguthr (6366) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - JUL 12, 2016
Cedar, smoke, toffee, bread crust aroma, spellbinding. Cloudy amber, thin head. Smoke and pumpernickel. Medium body, easy carbonation. Sessionable, but full of flavor. Unique and delightful.

Langer würzig-bitterer Nachhall. 11/12/13/12//12

(bottle) pours a murky golden-yellow colour with a frothy white head. aroma of smoked ham, soy sauce and roasted beef, with a hint of herbal hops, oak, lemons and mint. flavour is mostly green tea, mint and phenolic smoke, with a hint of grass, wheat and a bitter finish. light-bodied with lively carbonation. much better than the grodziskie on tap.

Quack-Duck (9484) - Down South, GERMANY - JAN 13, 2013
bottle from Bierkompass. Cloudy brownish yellow, creamy, white head. Shy smoky aroma. Very light-bodied, whetay ad yeasty with just a hint of smoke, bitter and aromatic hops in the lingering bitter finish. Very smooth and creamy texture. Very interesting and quite moreish, a nice light beer.
