COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Five beer enthusiasts with a common passion for historic brewing came together to create this distinct Polish beer style in the most authentic way we can think of after the brewery in Grodzisk Wielkopolski closed in 1993. It is brewed by Jopen and Monarchy of Musselland together with the beer writers Ron Pattinson and Evan Rail. We use 100% oak-smoked wheat malt, have the exact same gravity of 7.7 degrees Plato, employed classic Lublin hops and fermented with the original yeast. As the town once and again today belongs to Poland, but in the meantime was part of Prussia, there are two different names for the style: Grodziskie and Grätzer. Our research found that brewers also formerly used willow bark in brewing which we thought was an interesting variation. That is why we are offering two different takes on the style: a classic version bearing the name "Grätzer"and a willow bark version called "Grodziskie".

33cl bottle, thanks Tomaz. BB 11-2013.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Hazy tawny with small off-white head. Aroma is nice smoke, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is nice smoke and some meat.

Bottled. 33cl sample. Old note. The aroma has smoked meat, bit citric hops. Hazy, yellow coloured beer with a medium sized white head. The taste is tart with lemons and smoked meat. Refreshing. Nice.

Cedar, smoke, toffee, bread crust aroma, spellbinding. Cloudy amber, thin head. Smoke and pumpernickel. Medium body, easy carbonation. Sessionable, but full of flavor. Unique and delightful.

From the 11.2 fl. oz. bottle. The color is a cloudy bronze tone with little to no head. Interesting butterscotch and smoky aroma. Low to no hop profile. Light body. Same butterscotch and smoky taste with a crisp enough finish.

Butelka 0,33l kolor złoty, mętny, piana ładnie osiada na szkle chociaż mogłaby byc bardziej obfita. Aromat wędzonki i słodu, smak taki sam Dośc dobre piwo, wędzonka długo na podniebieniu, mała goryczka.

0.33 l bottle from ’Plan B’ (Rotterdam), best before April 2014 (!). Slightly hazy, golden amber with a thin, fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish-malty, smoky and slightly fruity aroma of smoked ham, some citrus, banana and vanilla. Sweetish-malty, slightly sourish, smoky and slightly fruity taste of banana, smoked ham, citrus and vanilla, followed by a short, slightly tart, dry and smoky-spicy finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and slightly astringent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Well-balanced, thirst-quenching stuff!

33 cl bottle into a Hamm’s pilsner glass, on sale at Supermarket Liquors. Dark yellow and fairly clear appearance with an average beige head. Aroma of smoked malt, toasted oak, bread, light tobacco and light earth. Similar flavor, adding a bit of musty yeast. Mild to moderate bitterness with light sweetness and a smoky finish. It tastes slightly off and a little old. This held up pretty well and is way better than the Grodziskie, which was infected or something.

33 cl. pours amber with a lasting disc of spongy foam. Pleasant nose of smoked toffee apple. Tastes of earthy cocoa, apple, caramel and smoke. Light-medium body has medium carbonation and an excellent balance. Reminds me of a quality alt with a nice dose of smoke added.

From WLVL. Seems at first light a soft but rather fruity lager but then has a touch of wheat beer flavor and the the smokeiness hits. Not over powering. Serving; Bottle

APPEARANCE - golden in color white foamy head. NOSE - smells a bit like a smoked cheese. FLAVOR - light and lagerish, with very light smoke flavor at the end of the sip. NOTES - makes my friend want to get out some cheese.
