COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Barmhartige Samaritaan is a highly hopped American Barley Wine. This Barley Wine combines the best of two worlds: a full warm tast (wich is common in English Barley Wine) mixed with loads of American hops (Simcoe and EXP431). A distinctive, high alcohol brew with a pleasant, slightly bitter aftertaste. Ingredients: Water, Barley malt, wheat malt, hops (Challenger, Simcoe, EXP431) and Yeast.

33cl bottle at home. Pours a dark mahogany colour with a small off beige head with low retention. Aroma of mango, pineapple, dark malt, hops, caramel, orange. Taste is medium sweet, fairly bitter with a medium dry finish. Notes of liquorice root, dark malt, raisins, alcohol, plums, fruity hops, caramel, candy sugar, tangerine, slight coffee. Texture is oily, full bodied with medium carbonation

W smaku dosc wysokie body i potezna chmielowosc, glównie zywiczna. Alkohol wyczuwalny, móglby byc lepiej ukryty, no, ale mamy tutaj prawie 12%. Ale nie jest zle. Solidny BW po amerykansku.

Kolor: herbaciany, delikatnie zamglony.
Piana: obfita, drobnopęcherzykowa, ew miarę trwała.
Zapach: wyraźne aromaty chmielowe, żywiczne, kwiatowe, trochę aromatów słodowych w tle, alkohol delikatnie wyczuwalna.
Smak: średnia pełnia, wyraźne nuty chmielowe jak w aromacie, trochę nut słodowych, lekka słodycz, goryczka średnia, lekki alkohol.
Wysycenie: średnie.

Donkerbruin/Donker Amber, crèmekleurige foamy schuimkraag, iets koolzuur langs het glas. Aroma: Moutig, brood/biscuit, Citrus, tropisch fruit, karamel, donker fruit. Smaak:  Zoethout, ziltig, salmiak, vol Moutig, donker fruit, pruim, rozijnen, harsige hops, kandijsuiker.

Bottle. Nose is grapes, pine, carmel, brown sugar. Sweet and sugary with lots of pine and resins. Simple and sweet but not much complexity. A bit disappointing.

Very simple brown sugar water malty beer that doesn’t offfer a lot. Why bother?

sjogro (4263) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - APR 28, 2017
Bottle shared at Maakun’s, "Don’t take that THT away from me"-tasting. Black with greyish head. Sweet toasted malts, caramel, plastics, soapy, spices, resin, quite hoppy, nettle bitter. Medium sweet and light bitter. Full body, soft carbonation. Malty and slick. Weird stuff. Gets better over time.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Almost clear dark amber with beige head. Soap, lots of sweet malts, speculaas, toffee, chemical, lots of alcohol, light citrus, grass. Medium sweet with chemical bitter finish. Almost full bodied. Very esthery and alcoholic.
