COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Barmhartige Samaritaan is a highly hopped American Barley Wine. This Barley Wine combines the best of two worlds: a full warm tast (wich is common in English Barley Wine) mixed with loads of American hops (Simcoe and EXP431). A distinctive, high alcohol brew with a pleasant, slightly bitter aftertaste. Ingredients: Water, Barley malt, wheat malt, hops (Challenger, Simcoe, EXP431) and Yeast.

Pours a very dark brown beer with a medium sized off white head on top. Aroma of booze, sugary malts, chocolate, hints of grapefruit in the back. Flavor has loads of sweeter alcoholic notes, chocolate and molasses in the malty finish of this beer. Very warming, soft in the carbonation and long in sweet aftertaste. Great winter warmer, to drink next of the hearth.

Opaque dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, sweetish and a little cream. Dark toffee. Mild dark chocolate. Spice. Ripe fruits. Orange peel and a mild winey tang. Smooth and mildly warming finish. Plenty going on here but its not that barley wine like to me.

(Jopen Barmhartige Samaritaan) Bottle 330ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 11.5% Dark brown colour on the body, half a finger of thin, light beige headd on top, average retention. Very fruity aroma, lots of tropical fruits, melon, mango, light caramel on the back. Taste is fruity too, again tropical fruits, melon and mango, light pineapple, caramel, just a hint of the alcohol and light toffee. Medium body, soft carbonation. Very nice, dangerously drinkable.

Good, very dense & fine cream head over very deep dark ruby-brown beer. Very fruity nose, but also quite some cats pee, slightly cheesy & hardboard. Bitter-sweet. Bit like a Mars bar with bitter chocolate and dried fruit as raisins. Again cats pee, valerian. Sweet in the background, bitterness attracting the attention. Medium to well-bodied (thinner than expected frop a BW, however), good carbonation. Bit of a valerian overload, and thinnish for its style. But nowhere bad.

Light brown and clear. Aroma and flavour have fruity citrus like Lilt, pineapple, grapefruit and some syrupy orange too.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark red/brown with light head. Aromas of toffee, pine, dark raisiny fruit and sweet malts. Flavors of red licorice, candi sugar, resiny piney hops, and rye. Very good but still a bit harsh - worth cellaring for a bit.
