Rye pale ale avec malt dorge et de seigle, avoine, houblons amricains, dnomm daprs lglise reconvertie (ou convertie, bref ..) occupe par Jopen Haarlem. Niveau abv de 5,3 %, et 45 ebu. Mon exemplaire tait jeune. Couleur roux acajou, avec un peu de matire en suspension. Bulles fines en colonnes droites, vives. Mousse brun clair, soyeuse, qui laisse un nappage stable 3 mm. Armes de malt cara, fruits confits, massepain, muscade, miel dacacia. 1re bouche souple lentame bien malte, avec du fruit et un ct Martini. Arrire-bouche trs fine, avec quelques pices amres. 2me la poursuite sur une amertume fine, mais les pices la contrarient. Arrire-bouche moins harmonieuse que la 1re. 3me o le seigle domine trop. Arrire-bouche correcte. Longueur bien, mais pas exceptionnelle. Jambes flocons moyens, assez collantes. Levure souple, fine, belle ligne. Alcool correct, mais insuffisant sur la longueur. Finale sans envol. CONCLUSION: malgr quelques atouts, cette bire reste un niveau moyen suprieur, sans pouvoir toucher aux grandes ralisations de la brasserie.

0,33l bottle from the flagship Alko. Pours slightly cloudy amber with a high head. Aroma is malts with some fruits and pine. Flavor is slightly watery malts with notes of pine and a hoppy finish. Disappointing.

Bottle at Appellation Wines tasting. Clear amber body with no head. Aroma of biscuit, caramel and burnt orange. Flavour of tea, toffee and rust. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Quite interesting.

Das Jacobus RPA (Rye Pale Ale) ist ein mit Roggenmalz gebrautes Pale Ale. Seinen Namen verdankt das Bier der Haarlemer Brauerei dem Ort seiner Herstellung. Die Brauerei ist nmlich in der "Jopenkirche" beheimatet, der ehemaligen Kirche St.Jakob. Das Bier hat eine tolle bernstein-braune Farbe und duftet dank der amerikanischen Hopfen fruchtig wie ein klassisches IPA, aber auch nach frischen Krutern. Geschmacklich wei es dann ebenfalls zu berzeugen: weicher malziger Krper, der wunderbar mit den fruchtig bitteren Aromen harmoniert. Das Aroma erinnert mich etwas an dunklen Waldhonig. Klasse Bier, von mir eine klare Empfehlung (wie die meisten anderen dieser Brauerei)

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - amber with a decent head. Nose - orange and bread. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - solid.
