Bottle. Red with a shade of brown. Small short-lived head. Aroma of red fruits, barley and herbs. Taste is red fruits (cherries, plums?), caramell, malts, herbs, spices, alcohol, liquorice, clove and maybe even Port. Aftertaste is sticky sweet, alcoholic and tastes like cough syrup. Strong carbonation, reminds me of Coca Cola. First Gruit I ever had. Interesting brew, feels like a mix between a dark Bock, a Barleywine and a pack of throat lozenges. Its certainly good but Im not sure I will ever it buy again.

Kampfar (225) - Osnabrck, GERMANY - MAR 31, 2017
From 0.3 L bottle; pours muddy, dark brown coloured with a light brown head. Heavy malty aroma, herbal, dried fruit, a bit like some kind of fruit bread, also slightly alcoholic. Medium sweet initial taste, much sweeter in the middle. Very herbal, also in the middle. Nearly no malty taste, much less than expected. Leading to a short finish. Medium body with soft carbonation and slightly dry mouthfeel. Its OK, interesting to taste but dont need it more often.

Bottle from Colonial Spirits. Hazy deep brown color with a decent sized tightly bubbled tan head that slowly recedes. Lightly herbal on the nose with plenty of brown sugary maltiness to counter. Light pine in the flavor with a bit of bitterness and sweet bready caramel and brown sugar maltiness to counter. Light earthy spicy notes round this out nicely. Im not usually a fan of gruit but this one I kind of liked.

Aroma is dark fruit, figs, raisins, caramel, maybe a sorghum or molasses, ginger, permanent marker. Appearance is brown amber, hazy, light tan head, lots of floaties. Taste is ginger, molasses, brown sugar, dark fruit, figs, spices, interesting. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light crisp carbonation, ginger molasses dark fruit aftertaste. Overall, this is a strange one, and not one for drinking quickly.

PotjeBier (3100) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JAN 22, 2017
From tap @ Boulevard Caf, sample size. Hazy dark brown color with dense off white to light beige head. Aromas: spices and herbs, notably ginger and gale/bogmyrtle. Retronasal thers also some fruit and sweetness. Flavor is moderate sweet, light sweet drop (licorice). Medium bodied. Quite tasy, but I do miss the hops.

11.2 ounce bottle, best before 26 NOV 2017 stamped on the back label. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a hazy reddish/brown color with about an inch and a half tan head that stuck around for a bit. Theres a small amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like stone fruit, sweet spices, herbs and earthiness. It tastes like stone and dark fruit, caramel, herbs, earthiness, sweet spices, licorice and molasses. Mouthfeel/body is medium, its slick and easy to drink with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this brew, glad I tried this one! $3.99 a bottle.
