2007 bottle, 750 ml with caged cork. Ready with a big Duvel glass in case of a gusher… but nope, not a problem this time. Pours reddish brown, fizzy like a soda, thin head. Smell is, um, like a rubber inner tube in the glass! Definitely, this got corked like a red wine. But a light herbal quality in the bottle. Wha hoppen? Okay, I can get past the nose and sip some of the beer, which is not as herbal as, well, other traditional ales, in fact, milder than some other old beers I’ve kept too long. So beyond the spoiled nose I find a slightly fruity ale, not too spicy and herbal, with a slight bit of tart marred by too much horseblanket. It’s a sign. I need to clear out my cellar!
God traditionel ale, med masser af fylde og sødme. Frisk ismagen, men for meget alkohold dorain (293) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUL 8, 2017
RoJo28 (58) - - JUN 30, 2017
Like Mongolian throat singers covering Wonderwall, this beer is familiar yet fascinating

A rather unusual release caught my eye while perusing the shelves during a recent trip to the store. Figuring the worst I had to lose was $3.99 I picked up a single. The resulting experience did just about cover though I won’t be hurrying to find many more.
Aroma / Appearance - A thick fizzy head takes time to settle into a maple colored core. Light melts away and morphs into waves of spices. If this had come out unlabeled you could almost have mistaken it for a Christmas ale. The full bodied whallops the senses until you finally break down and give it a sip.
Flavor / Palate - Chewy red licorice, spices, and walnut drive the focus of this earthy beer to the winter months. A well balanced profile melts the palate without being fatiguing. It doesn’t have the same memorable depth as some other beers with a similar profile but it will not be lost in the crowd.
caramel, nuts, cereal, herbs, woody, golden, brown, cloudy, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, creamy, long finish,

Unusual taste but grew on me as the bottle went down. 8.5% so maybe only a couple a session.

Bottled 330ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb as Koyt Gruitbier. Darker amber coloured, medium sized tan head, dried fruits in the nose. Sweet malty, caramel, yeast, heavy spicy and notes of herbs with some dried fruits and light alcohol in the finish. Interesting but far from the best. lebermilz (290) - GERMANY - MAY 14, 2017
