Moolesen (634) - NETHERLANDS - OCT 10, 2014
Bottle 33cl. Very dark brown with a rather small light brown/beige head. Extreme malty flavour followed by raisens, rye and sugar. Taste follows the taste with some dried fruit and finish sweet with mocca and toffee. Quite long lasting.

GSAP (769) - NETHERLANDS - AUG 2, 2014

Bottle from Bierkoning, thanks! Aroma of a Dutch doppelbock. Lots of prunes, some chocolate, licorice, nuts and perfumy alcohol. It tastes better than it smells, with the licorice coming to the fore, nicely underlined by the chewyness of this beer. Adding sweetness, some chocolate, a pinch of nuts and alcohol to the mix, there you have it - a nicely composed, though not really impressive quad, as far as I am concerned.

(Drinking date: 19th January 2014) It is a really dark/black beer where no light shines through. It has a creamy, beige layer of foam, but that reduces quickly to a thin layer. The aroma is really delicious. You smell raisins, other ripe dried fruit, salted liqorice and sweet chocolate (pure and milk chocolate). Also in the back you smell a bit of alcohol. When I had the first sip, it dissapointed me a bit. I expected a really round, full beer, but instead it was a bit watery, with a lot of carbonation. The first thing you taste is the alcohol. Then a sweetness, which is followed by a bitter and sweet taste at the same time. The beer also has a bit of a fruity taste, really nice. The sweetness/fruitiness comes from the fruitiness of the hops. The sweetiness also reminds me of sweet liqorice. The bitterness comes from the burned/roasted malt. I really enjoy the taste! The carbanation has to be a bit less, and the texture can be a bit thicker, more full, a bit less watery. The beer leaves a mildy bitter taste in your mouth, together with a really nice, warm feeling. Overall, I really, really like this beer, it has a really delicious taste. The mouthfeel can be better, but the aromas and the taste compensate it more than enough! This is a really good beer for a cold day. That?s why it gets the total score of 4.1!
