77ships (9267) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 25, 2017
Draft glass @ Caf Bakker during Tilburg 2017. Prior to seeing David Tibet for a 6th time with Hypnopazuzu, wonderful set. 77ships is a reference to Current 93, David Tibets seminal bad. After seeing the beyond spectacular Ulver set. Dark brown, big creamy lacing tanned head. Nose is basic mellow mocha, easy, cacao, artificial chocolate & chocolate syrup,... Taste is chocolate, feels bit artificial but not bad, honey, dark cereal, sugar, cheap chocolate,..; Body is artificial chocolate,... Decent enough. I obviously got plenty of cacao, sea salt maybe if I really tried, honestly I got zero ginger.

Kleurplaatje (170) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - APR 24, 2017
Pours dark brown with a small off-white head. Good lacing. Malty, roasty aroma with notes of chocolate, dark fruits and spices. Interestingly good. Taste is sweet and soft salty. Clear hints of caramel, licorice, anise, nutmeg ginger... A true bouquet garni! Interesting, powerful and definitely beyond tasty, but despite the tremendous complexity it is not that well-balanced. The flavor combination is somewhat unrefined and the amount of herbs feels a bit excessive. The Meesterstuk is a brilliant brew, full bodied and creamy, yet it has its sharp edges.

Ungstrup (36473) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - APR 24, 2017
Draft. A black beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, alcohol, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, caramel, bread, and spices among them cardemomme, leading to a dry spicy finish.

From tap. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma is roasted malty, dark malty and chocolate. Bitter, herbal and minerals. Dark roasted malty. Lasting dark malty and minerals into the far finish.

jerohen (2243) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - APR 22, 2017
Bottled at home, bought online. Dark brown colored, beige head. Unusual very spicy nose, roasted malts, licorice, seaweed. Spicy flavor, cocao (not chocolate), pepper, pretty salty in finish. The combination of flavors really doesnt work for me. Unbalanced, and actually: pretty bad.

PotjeBier (3031) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - APR 10, 2017
Draft at In De Wildeman, sample size. Black colour. Frothy beige head. Aromas: sweet, ginger, herbs. Retronasal its drop, salty, light ginger, sweetish. Flavour is moderate sweet and light salty. Medium bodied. Finishes with more drop/zwartwit. A bit too much like dropwater.

Mooie donkerbruine kleur met een volle kraag. Ruikt zoetig mout, kruiden, chocolade. Smaakt zoetig, vanille, chocolade. Veel chocolade in de smaak. Zachte smaak.

Bottle from bierkoning as part of Euroswap, many thanks. Brown color with medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, mint, sage, ginger. Taste, herbal notes with ginger, mint, sage, followed by roasted malt, light coffee. Refreshing, enjoyable beer.

Bottle. This is a very interesting and exciting piece. Relatively clean base beer lets the special ingredients shine. There is assertive roastiness, some chocolatey toffeeish maltiness. But the spotlight goes to the brittle balance of salt and ginger, ginger taking the spotlight, cocoa coming in second along the chocolatey maltiness and salted up base providing an interesting twist. I like this very much.

Bottle, thanks to Cuso. Black colour, beige head. Aroma is roasted and spicy - ginger, licorice, anise, sage, badyan. Taste is again roasted with same spicy notes. Caramel. Salty. Full body. Alcohol present. Good.
