Jopen Oost-IndiŽ Porter heeft een volle smaak van donkere en gerookte moutsoorten. Deze porter is een moderne versie van het bier dat vroeger met de schepen mee ging naar Oost-IndiŽ.

Bottle from Mam and Dadís holiday, Netherlands. Black with a large tan head of foam. It has a chocolate and smoked beechwood flavour with oak, vanilla notes and more smoked malt on the smooth, creamy finish. Very good.

Bottle at WVRST. Very dark brown with tan head. Nice lacing. Strong aroma of chocolate, good coffee, cherries, some leather and smoke. Coffee and chocolate upfront, roasty maltiness in the middle, lingering smoke and leather. Very smooth mouthfeel.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2017 Pronounced smell. Not necessarily high bitterness, but with this being bone dry, the bitterness is quite present. Dark chocolate, iron, herbaceous notes, bay leaf, liquorice. I would have liked the slightest sweetness for some relief.

Again a balanced beer from Jopen. There is a strong sweet smell licorice alike. The taste is sweet but in nice balance with the bitter. Not a fast drinkig beer but one to enjoy on a late night dinner. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled, gift from by neighbor. Dark brown colored, big lasting beige head, beautiful. Nose of roasted malts, hops, coffee. Impressive complex bitter flavor, hops, roasted malts, coffee, licorice, some rye. Lasting malty and bitter flavor. Complex, yet very easy to drink. Far beyond expectations, very good!
