Has the typical Jopen molasses flavor and smell like with ’Koyt’ and ’Meesterstuk’ beers etc But this one has more burnt malts and dark bitter flavors, not as sweet. I like the burnt / smokey undertone with the medium sweet caramel, molasses and candy sugar to balance it out. Has good body to it. Good beer.

Bierverkostung im Bierweltweit, Siegburg, 17.11.2017. Bockbiere. Bier #2. Als Jopen Bokbier. Aromen von vergorener Banane, Rübenkraut, Espresso, Röstaroma, säuerlicher Abgang, viel Kohlensäure.

Murky brown with a medium-sized off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, burnt sugar/caramel. The taste is in line with the smell. Well balanced sweet faving bitter. Bit thin mouthfeel unfortunately. Likable Bok.

Flesje thuis gedronken. Donkerbruin bier met stevig schuim. Aroma is houtig. Smaak is rokerig met een vleugje koffie. Nasmaak is iets wrang.

Bottle 33cl. Brown with a foamy beige head. Nice aroma of autumn, liquorice and malt. Flavour is following the aroma. Nice and rich.

Pyobon (1497) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - SEP 30, 2017
(Bottle) Cloudy brown with small white head. Pleasant aroma - toffee with toasty and fruity notes. Medium body with good carbonation. Rich toffee initially, balanced with some quite complex fruity notes, then some chocolate hints for a rich but not very bitter finish. Interesting and pleasant.
