Amazing brew. Could definitely tell the difference between other imperial stouts and JJ’s use of bourbon barrel aging. Very distinctive taste and really sets the bar. Aroma of the bourbon, nice mouthfeel, taste is so amazing, nice and dark with thick head, lots of lacing. myfriendbubba (40) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - FEB 22, 2015
At brewery great oak cedar wonderful smell taste licorice roast and big stout character. Nice nitro like carbonation and thin tan head. Perfect beer in my opinion. Love it. 930slantnose (17) - Las vegas, Alabama, USA - JUL 26, 2015
Awesome bourbon oak and cocoa aroma. Flavor roasts and chocolate with a wonderful back bone of bourbon. a+++++ onceblind (9887) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 3, 2016
Deep black hue under a thin dark beige cap. Big sticky dark black malt nose with bourbonny brown sugar, oak, caramel, coconut and a light bit of coffee in there. Big sticky flavor that’s got dark sweet malts, cocoa, coffee, brown sugar, coconut, oak, vanilla, and a slightly smokey black malt finish with more coffee and more bourbon. Amazing. dez1974 (8) - California, USA - JUN 11, 2015 does not count

Bottle shared by Countbeer @ "Cut weer" tasting. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized fairly quickly diminishing brown head. Aroma is malts, soft balanced roast, wood, bourbon. Taste malts, bourbon, lightly roast, a perfect mix of malts, dark malts, lightly roast, a light hint of chocolate, sweetness vanilla oak and bourbon blend together in an almost perfect marriage. Perhaps just a little bit in the sweet side, but lovely nonetheless. Medium body, suitable soft but decently noticeable carbonation. Wonderful stuff! Bottle@Cut Weer Tasting: Duvel glass:
Black beer. Small brown head.
Aroma shows some nice barrel aging: whiskey, soy, oat, roast, liquorice, light molasses,
Flavour has nice wood tones, whiskey/bourbon, honey, bitter, roast, light spice, light mocha/caramel, light soy, some cake and cookie, some coffee, toffee, yum yum... It goes on. Nice stuff!
Aftertaste is bitter, roast, wood/whiskey/bourbon and some malts with a chocolate edge.
Low carbo, creamy close to silky mouthfeel, close to full bodied.
This is a good barrel aged stout. Beautiful aroma and flavours, rich mouthfeel and good looks... dnstone (3431) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Black coffee color with a decent tan colored head. Aroma is sweet chocolate with coconut and caramel. A sweet chocolate cake flavor with caramel, coconut, and vanilla rounding it out...a touch of booziness. Overall a delicious desert, even at 6 am. Bomber, pitch black, slightly oily with some tan head. Very fudgey with a lot of espresso and some milky and cream aromas. This is actually quite good. an insane balance of sweetness, booze, chocolate, roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, even some coconut. Exceptional beer. mikedR (1561) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - APR 10, 2014
Solid BBA stout, although there are better. What I like the most about this one is that the barreling didn’t result in crazy bourbon taste, which seems to be a recurring problem. It’s still a bit more bourbony than I’d like, but ats a personal preference.
