Tallahassee, Fl - World Market - 12 oz can. Pours a medium golden with nice bubble action, a sticky show white head and thick rings of lacing. Strong resiny fresh spruce aroma, touch of spearmint. Flavor has plenty of sticky hop citrusy bitterness, a touch of maple syrup sweetness, a hint of spearmint. Mouthfeel has a nice stickiness to it. Fades just a bit in the finish, but overall pretty solid.

Can. Pours with a hazy, deeper orange hued body with a massive, just off-white head with decent lace. Aromas show a huge crystal like malt presence. Malt dominates with a moderate floral, pine and citrus zest hop aroma component. Sweet iced tea aromas, insect repellant, marmalade, over ripe fruits and deep caramel aromas. Flavors are extremely sweet with a medium to strong bitter, some citrus pith, pine, hoppy, herbal grapefruit and noticeable warmth in the finish. Slightly sharp. Medium to full carbonation, medium bodied and boozy. Way too loaded with dextrins for me.

22oz bottle picked up at Lee’s Discount
Appearance: Pours clear golden with a medium sized off-white head and good lacing
Aroma: Grapefruit and pine resin
Taste: Fruity, caramel and pine resin
This is my kind of IIPA, great. Hoppy but not over the top bitterness. I would love to try this fresh. Next time I’m in Las Vegas I need to find this on tap.

Canned. Poured hazy medium orange with a creamy, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up orange and other, somewhat dank citrus fruits over some biscuity malts.. not big, but quite enjoyable. The flavor found grapefruit meat, sweet caramel, and biscuity notes at the core.. bitter orange peel and black pepper around.. finished citrusy and bitter, with a nice warm kick. Medium-bodied and a tad grainy on the palate.. balance was good.. this was better than expected, and I’ll have another.

Bottle. Well last to rate my own shared bottle, figures. Hazy brune pour with some whitish head. Maybe this was an off bottle or what not but the hops have disintegrated, and are giving a soapy flavor off. Malty finish with some warming.

Twelve ounce bottle from Food N Fermentation. This pours hazed coppery with a decent fluffy beige head. A big caramel aroma with fruit and pine. An interesting earthiness too. This beer has a huge malt profile with citrus and pine hops a little behind. I taste some bready yeast. It has plenty of sweetness and maybe a little too much. A decent brew.

May 2010: Pint served at Ales and Aces (Las Vegas). The bar is dark but the beer looked a clear amber/orange colour, on top sat an off white thin head that soon became a wisp and collar. Hops and hints of pink grapefruit came across my nose. The hops content killed whatever else might have been in the brew, no malt flavours could I find, some inkling of a citrus presence tried to appear, but got beaten back by the hops, which strangley didn’t give the beer a huge bitterness like some hops can (and do). A different beer for me, pleasant, but not a world beater.

Can:   Amber, clear, slightly fiery, moderate off-white batter like head, fairly nice lacing.   Seems like a fairly strong rich biscuity and caramel nose.   Moreso on the caramel side.   Sweet pithy flavor, citrusy, moderate malt base, not too bitter or hoppy.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Seems like a weak malty IPA if you ask me.   Not much about this says Imperial IPA, not big in malts nor hops.   It certainly isn’t all that bitter either.   Its not bad, its just overall light.

kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 6, 2013
Can. Pours a slightly hazy copper body with a one finger frothy off-white head that had amazing retention. Tons of sticky clingy lacing. The nose is smelling pretty darn sweet, but there’s also a big burly citrusy and resiny hoppiness that keeps it in balance pretty well. The caramel and crystal malt sweetness seems to indicate that this might be a little too sweet for my tastes. The flavor is actually not all that sweet though, the bitter resiny hops really dominate and scrub away the caramel sweetness. Long, lingering bitter finish with a little bit of an alcohol warmth. Thick and chewy body with soft fizzy carbonation. Decent enough DIPA, but not something that I’d want to down a six pack of.
