3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma,, a peaty musky chocolate with soy sauce and faint boiled veggies. In mouth, a smooth chocolate with chalky notes, coffee notes, licorice and alcohol.
Nearly black in color with a tall brown, small bubbled head. Roasted malt, light coffee, mild grain, and touches of weak vanilla and licorice. Lightly sweet. Dark chocolate and burnt malts work their way in. Quite light in feel, nearly fizzy. Alcohol is not really noticed, except for a bit of heat on the tongue. With the thinness, comes a bit of astringency. A little less zip and this one would flow better for me. 2/12

12 ounce bottle from Sarandy’s Market in Roscoe, IL, consumed around cellar temp from a Unibroue glass. Very thick caramel foam lasts and lasts above the opaque murky molasses body, but leaves zero lacing as it finally fades, interestingly....deep, deep dark chocolate nose, just a hint of licorice, perhaps a little port, very nice...body moderately sweet, fairly bitter, notes of soy...finish is short, bitter, slightly drier than the body of the tasting...on the palate it’s reasonably full, though the fairly low carbonation works against it...alcohol not really present. The soy and the relative flatness hurt this, but it’s really not bad, pretty much an OK straightforward un-gimmicky example of the style. And my first Nevada beer, woo-hoo! wombat23 (1621) - Texas, USA - JUL 31, 2016
Shared 22 oz. bottle. Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Taste follows nose. Lightly warming finish. Seems more like a stout. darbeer75 (938) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - JUL 2, 2016
Aroma: like a standard, non-imperial stout with a little vanilla; Appearance: pitch black with tan head; some lacing; Taste: more like a regular stout than russian imperial; rich and roasty but not complex; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: okay, but not a go-to RIS. Solid, lovely, wonderful. Pitch black, no transparency. Dark malt, medium hoppy bitterness. Some essence of fruit, and smokey taste. A beer lovers beer

650 ml bottle, thanks Adrien! No bottle date on bottle but at least 15 months old. Thick slow dying tan head on top a black liquid head. Aroma is lots of roasted malts, chocolate hints, caramel. Jultsu (1149) - TAMPERE, FINLAND - SEP 26, 2015
The flavor shows weak roast, melted caramel, and just a hint of cardboard, not completely ruined but borderline. Notes of anise. Body is lighter then I want for a imperial stout. The oxidation is obviously not the Brewers fault. Perhaps a younger bottle would be in order but not going to really seek it out.
Eilen avatun pullon pohjat. Mustanpunertava, vaahdoton ja hapoton, tuoksussa kahvia ja maitosuklaata. Liukas suklaastouttimainen suutuntuma, leipäisä, öljyinen, laimeahko. Ei mitenkään erityisen hyvää. rosenbergh (11682) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 25, 2015

65 cl bottle (9.3% abv) @ ISKTR V.
Pours black color with a large beige head. Woody aroma, chocolate, cocoa, dark malts and some dark fruits too. Flavor is chocolaty, bitter dark malty, cocoa powder with subtle burnt notes and vanilla. Creamy, full-bodied, coffee on the aftertaste. Quite nice and pleasant, maybe a bit too dry and burnt.
