22 ounce bottle. Pours a dark black with a one inch tat head that last. Taste is of chocolate, rye, roasted malt, caramel dark fruit, pine, hops and citrus. Hop an malt aroma. Has mostly full body with a slight dry an biter chocolate finish. Quite drinkable and very enjoyable. Ratman197 (15620) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 17, 2016
Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small laating tan head. Aromas of charcoal, rye, bakers cocoa, grapefruit, light pine and light earthiness. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of rye, charcoal, bakers cocoa, pine and light grapefruit with a smooth dry bitter lingering charcoal finish. slowrunner77 (13206) - Reno, Nevada, USA - DEC 8, 2015
Gaaaaaaa. Shoulda looked for a date! Bought it for the name, though most of the JJ beers I’ve had have been below mediocre. This seemed liked it might have been ok, a few months ago. Cardboard and rye not a great mix. Bitterness, but no hop flavor or aroma. Oh well...
I learned my lesson. DrNosha (2836) - Württemberg, Germany, GERMANY - SEP 25, 2015
22oz Flasche aus Las Vegas. Tiefe rotschwarze Farbe. Cremiger Schaum. Der Duft ist eine irre Mischung aus Röstaromen, Schokolade, Kaffe und bitterem Hopfen. Der Geschmack ist erst röstig schokoladig, dann schön bitter. Sehr gewichtiges Bier! BlackHaddock (7957) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUN 7, 2015
27th May 2015: on tap in the Surfside Tap Room, Oceanside. Black body with Ruby hue around the extremities, the head off white and lasting. Both the nose and taste were citrus with a rye bread malt feel. Decent enough, but I do not know much about rye malt so difficult to say if this is good or not. I thought it fine.

Hoppy and fruity black IPA. Tons of it. Also a tad creamy with some significant kick of hops as well. rosenbergh (11946) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 3, 2015
22 oz bottle. 7.2%. (White Cross Liquor) Las Vegas, NV.Ibrew2or3 (8913) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JAN 31, 2015
Dark reddish brown colour with a small to mid-size frothy light tan head.
Mild roasted malt, liquorice, dryness, hops and mild bitterness in the aroma.
The flavour is roasted malt, sweetness, herbal notes, hops, mild bitterness and some medicine notes. A bit messy.
Poured up on tap at the Gilbert W.o.B. where it exhibits clear copper body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up candied citrus, roasted malts and then a mild tangy earthy rye sort of thing. The taste is . . . what is this? Wow, I get soft lemon and lime sweetened by malts and then roasted malts, modest pine hops and an earthy sort of nutty sort of tangy rye bread mix moving forward. This mix is different. It leaves a modest pine to earthy to citrusy to roasty sensation lingering well into the after taste. Interesting. Dogbrick (14316) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 1, 2014
Sample at Khoury’s in Henderson, NV. Brownish-black color with a medium light beige head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and hops. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, piney hops and subtle spicy rye. The finish is roasty malt and resiny hops. Above average overall.
