In Bavaria, a unique strain of wheat beer yeast produces an array of distinct flavor qualities typical of a true Hefeweizen: citrus, bubble gum, clove and banana. Trader Joe’s Bavarian-style Hefeweizen is fermented with this exceptional strain. In accordance with the German purity law, this superior beer is brewed with a minimum of 50% malted wheat. Beer Stats 5.3% ABV, 12 I.B.U. Fermented with top fermenting yeast. Brewed for Trader Joe’s specialty grocery stores.

Got hooked on wheat beers in Germany back in 1974. I haven't been able to find a Heffe Weizen beer made in the states that even comes close to the ones over there. This one does. It is authentic and I've been looking for a long time! Like the price too ! Must be consumed in a tall wheat styled glass. Lemon is not necessary. I compare it to an Ayinger or a Weihenstephaner.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2018 Thanks to Lisa and Bobby. The aroma didn't win me over, but the flavor was unexpectedly good. Robust wheat with a dash of sourness and soft, fruity notes. Rocky head on a dark gold pour.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is hazy orange with nice sparkle, finger-width fizzy off-white head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is banana, wheat, light clove and fermented fruit. Taste is strong banana and wheat, hint of clove. Palate is medium bodied with slick texture, lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, a good representative of the style without too much to distinguish itself. A little overcarbonated.

12 oz bottle into an Erdinger Weissbier glass on 22nd Dec 2017 while on holiday in California. Cloudy orange, huge off-white head. Yeasty nose with some banana esters and a hint of cloves, some Bubblegum aromas too. Really good taste, yeasty, fairly sweet (for a traditional Hefeweizen) with the bananas from the nose also in the taste. Really good value for the money and my sweet tooth liked it a lot.

FROTHINGSLOSH (8449) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 18, 2017
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy orange-bronze color with a large foamy orange-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was yeasty with clove and a touch of phenol. The flavor was yeasty and bready with clove, bubblegum and black pepper. Medium length finish. Medium body. Decent.

from 12 oz bottle from TJs. Aroma: aroma is typical of a well executed weissbier. yeasty esters (bananas), and phenols (spicy cloves) and a soft bready wheat malt. Appearance: a tad darker than expected. its actually somewhere between a deep gold and and pale amber and it also seems to be filtered (krystalweizen) although the label says it is not. clarity is close to 100%. 3" head has very good retention but no lacing is present. Flavor: soft wheat/bready malts, pronounced bananas and clove with a hint of bubblegum. Bitterness is minimal. just enough to balance. Palate: medium body, creamy texture, effervescent carbonation and no detectable astringency (until the finish). Finish: smooth malt sweetness and some astringency that hits the palate after the fact. Overall: a decent rendition of a Hefeweizen, the filtered krystal kind, with slightly darker malts. drinkable. GB has always made good German styles.

Bailz316 (256) - North Carolina, USA - AUG 13, 2016
Clear blonde beer with minimal head. apricot, banana notes. A little spice on the backend. Im usually not a big hefe fan but this was solid, esp. for the money.
