Bottle. This looks almost exactly like cola when poured, just with fewer bubbles. Aroma of hazelnut and baking chocolate. Flavor is subtle and nutty with hazelnut after taste. Body is light and refreshing though. Lets call this hazelnut lager.
12 oz bottle into a La Chouffe stemmed tulip glass on 8th Jan 2018, while on holiday in California. Dark brown pour, tanned crown. Malts rule the roost here, good depth in the aroma and taste, roasted/toasted, but not burnt. Fairly sweet flavour wise, easy drinking for a guy like me with a sweet tooth, others might suffer and crave for a more bitter Brown Ale (not a lot of those around really), but this suited me nicely. I got this bottle in a trade with russpowell. Thanks Russ!
A nice dark brown-red colour with a 2 finger head of tannish foam and some good lacing.
It has a nice smell to it. I'm picking up some roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and a touch of dark fruit.
Taste wise, I get the chocolate first, followed by roasted malt and coffee with some notes of dark fruit and just the slightest of hop bitterness. Pretty tasty brew here. The body is kind of thin it doesn't ever get watery. It finishes with a coffee bitterness that lasts fairly long in the aftertaste.
Very good head retention as I'm down to the last couple of ounces and there's still a solid 1/2" layer. This is another one of them "fun" beers to drink and I'm glad I got to try it. Rex_Remes (288) - Bonyhad, HUNGARY - NOV 13, 2017
(12oz bottle) AROMA: dark chocolate, soft mocha, toast, wood, roasted nuts, fall leaves APPEARANCE: dark dark brown, approaching black, hint of red, stout-like creamy head TASTE: dark chocolate, bitter, smokey coffee, some nuttiness, toasted bran, some layered sweetness PALATE: medium body, creamy/oily, smooth finish with light bitterness OVERALL: a very enjoyable dark ale, good amounts of chocolate and lightly sweet mocha, moderatley robust. vulcanmeister (309) - La Grande, Oregon, USA - OCT 28, 2017
Pours from 12 oz botte received as gift from Curt, a dark reddish-brown with a nice vigourous but short-lasting tannish head. The aroma gives off malt, nuttiness, and milk chocolatiness. The flavor is great combination of carmely malt, nuts, and the smooth chocolate. Medium pleasant mouth-feel. The finish has a bit of bittersweet chocolate, berries, and bit of hops that lingered on the palate. Very enjoyable! I will be drinking you again! milewide (2352) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - OCT 6, 2017
Very sweet and grainy---with little roast aroma or flavor. Hop bitterness also missing.

I had it from the bottle. The taste is nutty, caramel, roasted coffee, and chocolate. There's a nice sweetness and bitterness balance. This is good. sdhunter (10) - - JUL 13, 2017
Ok beer. Dark. Gives the appearance of a stout. Trader Joe's brew. Not bad, but better choices.

Thick head that dissipates quickly. Nose is molasses with sweet dark fruits. Not much character in terms of flavor. rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - FEB 11, 2017
Bottle. Very deep brown with one finger head. Strong roasted malt. Nutty and dry. Slightly bitter finish. ffbot (476) - Oakland, California, USA - OCT 17, 2016
Pour is a big black with a tan head. Mild coffee, toffee and bread smells. Taste is similar, not too strong or anything, but no real depth to it
