COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
JosephsBrau Heller Bock is a fine example of the regal brewing tradition still found in Germany today. This outstanding bock is golden in color, very rich, and moderately hopped. It is brewed with three types of imported malt, Hallertau aroma hops and lager yeast.

Golden pour into pint glass. Aroma is very yeasty and bread. Flavor is very malty but doesn’t offer a lot of complexity. Some spice notes and vanilla in the finish. Diffentley on the sweeter side but it is nothing offensive.

12oz bottle 12/19/16 (Trader Joe’s Naperville)-Pours a darker golden with a small white head. Aroma of sweetness, malt, caramel, and hops. Taste of the same with a bit of caramel on the back end. this medium bodied brew is not bad but just not my cup of tea.

Pours a one finger light creme head that fades quickly leaving no lace. Crystal clear amber color. Good carbonation and light-medium bodied. Malty nose and flavor is malty with hints of caramel. $1.17 for a 12oz bottle from Trader Joe’s Nashua, NH.

Bottle at home. Definitely one of the better Trader Joe’s own-brand beers that I’ve had. It’s a pretty down-the-middle, straightforward Heller Bock, with a great color, a medium body, a moderately-light hop bitterness, and some bite from the lager yeast.

$1.09 bottle from Trader Joe’s, Charlottesville. Clear medium golden with a large off-white head. Aroma of grasses, fall leaves, tiny bit of hay. Flavor is incredibly similar, with more fall leaves and caramels than anything else. Gonnd chucnk of grassiness in the finish. Solid.

Bottle At a swim party. Not a great beer but I really didn’t expect much from this generic brand of a generic style.

July 26th, 2014 - Trader Joe must sell a lot of their name brand beer, because it always has a strong presence on the shelf ends and in the beer section. And I can see some appeal, especially for fans of German beers during a sweltering summer. Here we have the Heller Bock, dark yellow and a bit too dark to be called "gold!. The smell is light with corn and a touch of lime, and the flavor is very light, almost skeletal, with a sweet, cheap lager flavor though with a bit more body. Not the best beer you can find at Trader Joe’s...

Golden with a thin head and a faint nose. Moderately-carbonated with a medium mouthfeel and a sweet, syrupy finish with some alcohol warming.
