UPDATED: MAR 4, 2014 12 ounce bottle from Trader Joe’s Charlottesville. Pours a clear copper color with a medium sized white head that’s in a hurry to go somewhere. Aroma of toasted caramel malts, some nuttiness and faint floral hops. The taste is toasted malts, nuts, a vegetal note. Medium bodied. A little odd.

Traitor Zhou’s just keeps on delivering with these contract brews. This dark, malty beverage does nothing bust satisfy with its balanced profile of malt and hops and high gravity of seven some odd thing percent. At $6.49 a six pack it’s six times the value of a local pint. Cheers, Joe!

12 oz bottle with a BB date of 26 July 2016. Pours with a mahogany colored body that has excellent clarity but is covered by a rather weak, off-white head. Limited lacing. Moderately strong malty flavor with partially hidden alcohol. Hops are faint in the flavor but more obvious in the aroma. Smooth, full body with light carbonation that’s a touch too light.

Reddish amber in the glass. Nose is sweet and malty. Palate follows suit. Kinda like a hard Killians’s.

Fairly sweet, tastes like a better version of Heineken maybe? Fairly sweet, more lemon than I expect from a lager. OK, but I do not care to try it again.

355ml bottle. AMber pour, ecru head, foamy, sticks,, nice lacing. The aroma is huge, big raisin and malt component,, some spice, dark bread, molasses syrup, candy. Flavor is crisp but malty, huge sweet bready notes, dark fruits, some hops. Its not bad, too sweet but drinkable.
