COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Triple Blitz is a Black IPA that presents a strong espresso/chocolate flavor up-front and a lemony finishing touch. Stout-like in color, with bitterness from German Northern Brewer hops at approx. 95 IBU and a citrus zing from generously dry-hopping with Centennial Hops. The beer has a subtle English character, created by using some imported Maris Otter Malt. Coffee and chocolate character are present through the use of Chocolate and Black Patent malts. The hop flavors are well-balanced by the explosion of espresso/chocolate malt. 12% ABV.

On tap @ Brews & Brats. Cola looking beer with a khaki head. Intense pine aroma here. Very resinous flavor to it as well. Quite a strong hop bitterness, but also a fair amount of semi-sweet chocolate and some sweet toasted, caramel malts. Good bit of citrus to it, certainly. Definitely some noticeable alcohol as well. Just a very, very intense beer all around. My small pour was more than sufficient.

Great beer, but a little too sweet. Full of flavor and hop notes. Finishes clean and warm.

On tap at the brewery. It pours a dark brown color with a khaki head. The aroma is intensely piney with chocolate and maybe a touch of tropical fruit. The flavor has a lot of alcohol with sweet cocoa and cola... nice pine and spice bitterness, but mostly sweet. Not dry enough in the finish, but still enjoyable.

This is the best black IPA I have ever had! Big chocolate with grains and salty shells. Let me give you an image chocolate icecream with salted caramel peanuts. Smooth and creamy.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2013 Tap as Mission Pizza Triple Black. Pours deep brown to black with a small tan head that dissipates with great lacing. Aroma is citrus and caramel plus a bit of coffee and roasted malts. Flavor is the same, lightly sweet and medium bitter. Nice mix of roasty and hoppy - this is the way a Black IPA should taste! Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel. Nice beer.
