Lemon wedge takes up a quarter of the sample glass. Cloudy and dark. Lemony. Tastes like citrus juice. Can almost taste the pulp. Nice-ish, but a Hefe? bhensonb (15624) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 30, 2014

Tap at the brewpub. Hefeweizen. Pours a full haze light golden, great sheets of white lacing. Mild estery nose with light pear. Taste is a bit papery, sharper grain husky. Newspaper like palate. A bit harsh around the edges. Thinner body for style.

On tap at the brewpub. It’s an unclear, yellow brew topped by a small, white head. The aroma is dominated by bubblegum, the banana is left in the background along with some lemon and a faint hint of cloves. There’s a very faint bitterness in the flavor, not much sweetness either, and there’s both bubblegum, banana, citrus and wheat. The cloves more or less gone. A bit thin on the palate, and with a quite low level of carbonation, at least considering the style. Anyway, it’s a decent, drinkable beer, but it’s nothing impressive going on here. 130903

Horrible example of a hefe. Not enough carbonation, no real flavor except the lemon they serve in it ( if its a "California" hefe, shouldn’t they put avocado in it?), only slightly cloudy. Don’t bother. Sledutah (7795) - Utah, USA - FEB 21, 2012

Appearance: Hazy orange with a small white head and spotty, with a wedge of lemon IN the glass
Aroma: Banana esters and citrus
Taste: Clove, banana, grainy and spices
Sample at the brewery. Rating #21. Cloudy and dense yellow pour and a tight bubbled head. Light banana and lemon aroma, pretty nice. Flavor is more on the citrus side, more lemon with a light aftertaste. Pretty good. (1794) brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 3, 2011
A: As a hefeweizen should, this one pours a cloudy golden orange with a creamy white head.
S: Amazingly, I get banana as the initial aroma. However, there is still the good ol’ lemon zest/peel that shouldn’t really be there. Lots of pepper and an overcooked grain smell. Mild cloves give it a tad more authenticity.
T: Though the aroma had some high points, the flavor is not very good. Light and watery to start with. There’s a decent spiciness with some pepper and mild clove. A bit of banana and citrus peel. It’s also pretty bitter.
M: Medium bodied with a medium level of carbonation.
O: I got my hopes up after the first sniff, but I was let down. Sparky (2244) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - FEB 6, 2011
Taster at brew pub. Pours cloudy yellow with a thick white head. The nose is cloves and bubblegum. The taste is spice, cloves, fruity esthers and yeast. OK hefe.
