COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note - Hoppercar is a dry-hopped version of Conductor’s Craft Ale We used 5 different malts from Germany, France, Britain and Canada to give Conductor’s a biscuity, toasted, caramel base, and a combination of 5 different hops from Germany, the Czech Republic and the Pacific Northwest of the USA. To finish the beer we designed and built in-house a ‘hopback’ mechanism that infuses the hop aromas into the beer in line from the kettle as the beer goes into the fermenter. We use whole leaf hops of Cascade and spicy German Tetnanger in the hopback to provide a unique and intense hop aroma that is familiar but uniquely presented.

Pours a large foamy off-white head, gives thick patchy lacing. Has an amber appearance. Has toasty and bready malt aromas, with light notes of earthy and resin hops. Not really bitter at all, mostly in the finish. Flavours are sweet malts, nutty and toasty. Hops are less noticeable, mainly some light floral notes with a bit of spices. Slick and mildly astringent mouthfeel. Has a bit of that rusty taste. Not bad.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2017 Enjoyed the hoppiness of this ale with the 30 IBU rating. Was smooth and malty but I liked their stronger engineer ale better.

Pours golden brown, hue of hot cider, moderate head. Malty and boozy aroma - caramel, plum, wood. Taste is caramel, toast, moderate herbal hop. Profile is similar to a Canadian ESB. Not really remarkable in any way, good or bad.

Draft. Clear body, even beige head. The aroma is balanced and hoppy. The taste is dry and bitter with a good grapefruit finish.

330 ml bottle. Pours a hazy amber orange colour with a small white head. Aroma of crackers, white bread, mild sweetness and herbal notes. Flavour of crisp grassy hops, white bread, some acrid notes and weird herbal notes. Light bodied. A bit harsh mouthfeel. Decent.

I suppose if you were trying to introduce someone to craft beer from a life of bud, maybe this would be interesting and different. Otherwise, its hard to pick out a dominant or distinct flavour. Just malty liquid. No distinguishable hops, in flavour or aroma.

jksipa (992) - Newmarket, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 27, 2016
Can from RCSS. Hazy medium copper with a lingering one finger off white head. Nose is light caramel with grassy and floral hop notes. Light sweet base for a moderate hop bitterness. Mouth is medium and creamy with a lingering light bitter finish and average carbonation. More of an English Pale Ale, but decent. 7/3+/7/3+/14+

ChadPoole (478) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 8, 2016
At the Ajax Beerfest. Pours amber with a small beige head. Has a carmel malt with hops and citrus aroma. Taste is carmel malt, nuts and a bit of citrus bitter. Very enjoyable.

Draught at BareBurger. More malt-forward with some light orange hoppiness, fairly thin with a short finish. Paired with an outstanding wild boar burger, this one didn’t stand a chance and failed to shine.
