Cask Kings Head Carlisle. Good medium roast aroma, pours a good looking dark ruby black colour, with a light coffee head. Soft sweet palate, milk chocolate and tobacco notes, some rum in the background& a bitter, fruity finish. Good stout

Cask @ The Urmston, Urmston, Greater Manchester. Practically black with a thin creamy off-white head. A light mild with a medium body and slips down the palate well. Has a very light roasted malt sweetness in both its aroma and taste.

275ml bottle from Shropshire. Vintage 1989. Soft, creamy, sweet, chocolate flavoured. This is very drinkable, and very enjoyable. Pleasant soft bitter notes counterpoint the sweetness. Very satisfying. I could drink these old British bottled stouts till the cows come home.
