Our first brew from the 2008 harvest of barley and hops. To celebrate the occasion, we selected only the very finest malted barley and the choicest East Kent Goldings hops.
Harvest Ale is brewed by traditional methods in open copper fermenting vessels to a very high original gravity, and fermented with our excellent Cervisiae yeast to produce a very special ale.

Harvest Ale is then stored to impart excellent keeping qualities and to ensure that it will mature and improve with age. The result is an excellent full bodied beer that can be enjoyed by itself or as an accompaniment to a meal.

Bottled, 275ml aged 8.5 years from Booths of Longton, Lancs. Reddish brown with thin white head. Spectacularly boozy from the off, peachy, apricot alcohol, nasal with a rich, smooth maltiness. Heavy palate with a whisky like character. Sipped whilst taking in the Chairman May Election disaster.

275ml bottle. Pours amber with very little head. Palate is pretty flat. Not so surprising considering the age. Light oxidation with caramel and noble hops. Slightly burnt caramel. Taste caramel with hops. Light oxidation. Finish caramel with spices. Resinous notes. Light oxidation. Nice rich caramel on the finish. Pretty good. I feel like there was more complexity when younger. Probably a bit over the hill. Still very enjoyable.

Flaske 275ml - årgang 2009 - fra Tuckers Maltings. Delt med djoeye & Rune på Nerstranda 6 Nov 16. Mørk rødbrun. Uklar. Filmskum. Aroma av sherry. Smaken ulik søt frukt. Behagelig - men veldig søt.

Rune (12947) - Tromsø, NORWAY - NOV 17, 2016
275ml bottle, vintage 2009, bought at Tuckers Maltings. Amber coloured body with sediments floating around. Shiny naked surface. Poor lacing. Restrained aroma of bread, caramel and sherry. Taste like fruit cake including dried fruits, toffee, bead and a touch of sherry. Warming. Slow beer sipper, very sweet in the long run (Session with djoeye and Finn, Troms? 06.11.2016).

Bottle share at Scopey’s. Many thanks to the birthday boy. We were unsure if the 2008 version we tasted corresponded to this entry on Ratebeer. Same bottle, same description. From what I can find online, it seems that it is. Only took minimal notes:

2008 - Musty, marmite, marmalade, soap. Taste is sweet lingering sugars, toffee, deep earthy malts. (3.2)

hazy amber, puffy cream head laces well, moderate particulates. Sweet nose is honey, lightly dusty wood as counterpoint. Flavor similar, more papery oxidation and definite yeast elements in slightly green wood notes. Finishes sticky, of course sweet. Not burning or oxidized.

nimbleprop (8452) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 15, 2016
12oz bottle pours a clear caramel amber with some creamy, white head. Nose has caramel, butterscotch, heavy honey comb. Flavor is dripping with agave, butterscotch, some aloe too. Sticky finish.

radagast83 (8119) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - MAY 11, 2016
Confirmed 2008 bottle at the May 1st DC tasting. Poured a dark brown, ruby color with a fizzy off-white head. Aroma was lots of raisins, sweet malts. Caramel notes. Light oxidized cardboard, not a lot of soy thankfully. Alcohol still burns here.

GenDV138 (7285) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - MAY 4, 2016
Bottle at the DC RateBeer Tasting. Clear golden amber. Aromas of caramel, toffee, booze, dark fruit. Tastes of butterscotch, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, oak. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 1, 2016
Bottle, thanks Mr Chopin. She off-white head atop yeast-flecked amber body. Aroma is sweet, caramel, some molasses, light melon. Taste is sweet, caramel, berry. Sticky full body.
