3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a beautiful golden color with no head at all. It smells fruity like apples, figs, and maybe prunes with a hint of caramel from the cask. The taste of the casking is the predominant taste and the fruity taste is quite subtle but is so subtle you miss it. Very smooth with a sweat and crisp after taste.
Draft sample. The beer is a clear gold with a white head of foam. Strong booze and sweet popcorn notes. Grainy and weird. Big body and medium carbonation. weihenweizen (4044) - Charleston Area, West Virginia, USA - SEP 19, 2017
Refrigerated brown 2013 bottle poured into a snifter. Opaque medium brown with small off-white head. Aroma is sweet whiskey, medium body, low carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is whiskey, smokey peat, oak, caramel, some leather, and molasses. Age might round the corners of this one. sjohnny (663) - - JUL 15, 2017
Just a huge hit of peaty scotch. A little sweetness on the back end. Cloudy light brown orange Amber with a thin quickly fading off white head. Lots of Scotch. Lots of peat. Glassy smooth. Prune. Date. Fig. Sweet finish.

Bottle to snifter. Holy smokes. Such smoke. All smoke. Light rubber component to it. Light sharpie. Some alcohol noted too. Murky light brown pour. No head. Taste is all lagavulin. Chewy mouthfeel. Peppery alcohol finish with warming in the ears. Mouthfeel is fine but the lagavulin is just too overpowering. dnstone (3485) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - MAR 3, 2017
Pours a golden-copper color with white head. Sweet malty aroma with hints of wood and whisky. Medium malt body, quite sweet with dull oak and scotch notes the complement but not overwhelm.

Bottle: Poured a copper with no head. Sweet sticky nose of booze. Sweet tooth addicts unite. Very tasty but very sweet. tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - OCT 22, 2016
draft in mini snifter, poured a cloudy orange color with no head, aroma was sweet malts and scotch barrel and slight peat. not sure if this is an old keg or not. seemed thin and watery. the flavor was just ok..i mean for a barley wine it should have certain properties and it didn’t do it for me. kind of disappointed. flavor was fine but watery like the scotch and peat mix. but overall wish I would have passed for something else. Drank from a pint glass, poured from a twelve ounce bottle. Whoa! This beer sitting at 11.5% is amazingly smooth, complex, and malty! b0071d (14) - Iowa, USA - SEP 3, 2016
Sweet whisky aroma. Dark amber (brown/red) color. Wonderful sweet barleywine flavor with a smokey finish. Something to save for a special occasion. glennmastrange (2899) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - AUG 25, 2016
Bottle, 2004. Heavy malt aromas of roasted, caramel and nutty, light cooked orange and perfume for the hops, moderate leather for the yeast, with tobacco, sherry, prune, and fruitcake in the background. Head is nonexistent, and the color is a very dark burgundy/brown. Flavor starts heavily sweet, then finishes heavily sweet and faintly bitter. Palate is medium to full, syrupy, with no carbonation. A super sweet and savory Barley Wine to be sipped slowly for sure.
