What a sweet treat! It is thick yet light to the touch. I love the yellowish brown coloring and the way the sherry addes to its complex flavor. BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - JUL 5, 2013
Fantastic. Beautiful plum color. Sweet but not syrupy. Rich complex flavors. Wonderful beer. Jamesthebrit (484) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - APR 20, 2014
Pretty sure this is not retired. Anyway this would be the last one if not for a certain different site banning me for no reason. It was for the best.
You want a beer to smell good... Holy crap this is it. Apples. Citrus lemon note. A tinge of boozy. Some bread. Almost like a bees wax note.
Looks.. Rustic. Hazy redish brown oak color. Minimal head.
Taste is like the smell. Very sweet (I think sherry is sweet?) a wine like note. A little bready a little yeasty a little oak. Citrus on the finish. Apple. Pear. Honey! That’s what it is. Big honey note.
Palate is perrrrrrfect. Medium body. Sits smooth. Goes down smooth. Great flavor development.
These beers are amazing beers. This one has more of a sweetness compared to the others but is still very balanced. Tons of flavor and better on the palate than the others. Would love to do a tasting with all of them but.... $$$$$. Totally worth is. eraserhd10 (226) - new haven, Connecticut, USA - OCT 26, 2004
A very impressive barley wine! It is sweet and licorice-tinged with a candy-apple, caramel nose and full caramel and sherry flavor to the palate. Good viscosity! An outstanding, near perfect drink. And I think with some aging the alcohol and sugars may balance out each other making this even BETTER! dwyerpg (6413) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAR 30, 2006
Noticeably redder color, nice aroma. This is also very nice, and of course, sweet. That would be the one commonality between all the harvest ales.

this will be rating #1000 on Beerpal...#1004 here at RB .... what an amazing beer. Lots of sherry notes with dark fruits ... very sweet and cheeky ... almost no alcohol detected, all the complex flavours worked very well with each other ...one of the most regal and well made cask aged beers around ..
