500ml bottle. Poured a lively deep brown with an initial one finger, though fading, loose & fizzy off-white to beige head. Caramel, nuts, cakey dark fruits and woody, tobacco tones on the nose. Dried fruits, cakey malts, tobacco, nuts & wood on the tongue. Finished with a dryish bittersweetness. Medium body, though with that empty pasteurised quality. A well carbonated, lively mouthfeel with a short to medium length malty bitterness. 500ml bottle served cellar cool in a tulip. Very dark brown with a tan head that soon disappeared. One of those beers that is like fruit cake in a glass: Raisins predominate at first, but as you imbibe, more complex rounded prune and date flavours come through. A delicious winter sipper. Dark brown with a small head. Aroma is caramel, raisins, ripe apples, subtle butterscotch and some flowery hops. Taste is light sweet, quite full bodied, with a moderately strong bitterness that makes way for a frankly nasty alcoholic astringency. The aftertaste is butterscotch, apples and raisins. Not enough complex flavour to carry the weight of the abundantly evident ABV.

Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a nut brown color with a medium sized tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was tart grapefruit, sour plum and some sugar. The flavor was bitter, tart and sour apples with notes of sour cherries, grapefruit and a touch of vinegar. Faint aroma, alcohol.
Sweet dark fruit, raisins dry bitter aftertaste. Some alcohol taste.
Heavy with some carbonation.
Nice but too much alcohol and a little too heavy.

Deep amber-red with a small off-white head. Aroma is rather sweet with notes of caramel, raisins, and burnt fruit. Flavor is very cloying but not horrible - toffee, brunt sugar with a bitter and doughy finish. Light to medium bodied.
