There’s a story about some farm labourers who thought that the reflection of the moon in a pond, not far from our brewery, was a lovely truckle of Lancashire cheese. They tried to rake it out, but ended up falling in. You might find a pint of this stuff just as mesmerising.

Half pint. Black colour, almost opaque, brown edge, tiny head. Aroma was malt with hints of cranberry. Tasted malt, was a bit stoutlike, finish had some burn from the booze. Texture was like thin syrup, light carbonation. Overall the character didn’t match the burn that came from the alcohol.

Cask Half Pint – JDW Fest Autumn 2012 - Reddish / Dark Brown in colour. Malty; lightly roasted malts, caramel, hint of chocolate. Fruity; dried fruits, raisins. Hoppy; negligible hop bitterness. Sweet malty fruity throughout. Drinkable. (2012-11-03)

Luvystypotables (1960) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - JUL 16, 2016
An interesting aroma plums, and malt pours a dark reddish brown color with no head. Watery body, and a taste of plums and raisins with a nutty malt finish.

On tap at The Hay Merchant. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is bready malt and dark fruit. Medium mouth, fruity malt, yeast, biscuit, light finish, good.

Cask. King’s Head, Huddersfield. Clear, dark copper colour. Dense, lasting for ever, off white head. Aroma of booze soaked dried fruit. Notes of chocolate and spice, along the lines of cinammon, maybe. Taste is mostly sweet. Some vinous bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Very little carbonation on this one. Fruity, soft bittersweet finish. Decent. A bit more fizz, and I’d have liked this a lot, I reckon.

chinchill (4989) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 23, 2016
From a cask at the 2016 Atlanta Cask Ale Festival. Pours dark brown with a bubbly head. Lightly hazy. Slightly pungent aroma hints at the strong flavor but the taste is quite tart despite a sweet note up front. Overall: Fresh and interesting but infected.

Cybercat (5829) - Georgia, USA - JAN 23, 2016
Taps translucent chestnut with a thick light tan head. Aroma presents malty and fruity tones with a woody hint. Flavor delivers sweet malt, apple, pear, toasty and caramel tones. Body is fairly firm, fizz is good. Cue the James Bond theme - tee hee. (Hey, I saw "Skyfall" the other day, can’t help it!)

solidfunk (8941) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - JAN 8, 2016
Not really a great beer in any sense of the word. Tangy and citrusy. Some sour plum. Maroon pour without much head or lacing on cask. Churchkey.

radagast83 (8059) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - DEC 31, 2015
Cask at Rustico Alexandria. Poured a chestnut brown color, clear - with a foamy white head. I’d describe it as soapy, but that’s what it tasted like - just a very mild, sweet malt, with some nutty notes to the body. Finish was a touch floral, very thin.

mansquito (6425) - Nueva York, New York, USA - DEC 30, 2015
Birch and Barley, DC cask: pours dark reddish brown with very little head. Aroma is yogurt and dark fruits. Taste is sweet dark fruits. More than plenty malty. The ever slightest bit of hop bitterness. Powdered chocolate. Creamy body. Nice.

SarkyNorthener (4609) - West Bromwich (Yorkshire Expat), West Midlands, ENGLAND - NOV 14, 2015
Gravity [email protected] beer festival, Port sunlight. Dark brown beer with small head. Aroma of dark malts and dark malts. Taste Is same with some harsh bitterness. OK.
