Hefe-Weizen (meaning ’wheat with yeast’), this Bavarian style Weiss (Wheat) is highly effervescent with a fluffy white head. Brewed using wheat, pale and munich malt, it is unfiltered, hence cloudy. Fruity and tart in the mouth, with hints of lemon, while the dominant aromas are of banana and clove.

On draft at J.W. Sweetman - this is a Hefeweizen from the microbrewery in Dublin. The colour and smell are authentic to the Bavarian original. The taste is something different, there are clear wheat notes, but the overall taste is sweeter and with less aftertaste. This is better than most attempts at wheatbeer from Ireland.

Yellow hazy appearance, medium head. Traditional Hefeweizen yeasty, bready and banana aromas. Well rounded and overall good. On tap at Sweetman brewpub in Dublin.

Traditional weizen. Quite a bit of banana and some clove aroma. Cloudy Amber with off white head. Caramel; wheat, bread, dough, bubblegum, clove flavors. Semi sweet finish. Great hefe!

Draught. Light golden colour, cloudy, nice thick head with good lacing. Aroma is lots of banana, some wheat, clove, a bit of hops. Not too sweet. Medium carbonation, the beer is very smooth and easy to drink. Gorgeous.

Pint on-tap at the Dublin brewpub (€4.90):
I could detect some bubblegum and banana initially with some clove and light fruits following soon after, as does some hints of spice and a little pepper.
Very cloudy & light golden colour that is light with tinges of yellow featuring. It’s topped with a small, white head that is foamy in texture & leaves some lacing on the sides of the glass.
Strong bubblegum then some banana. There is a touch more spice than from the nose too & I felt the background fruits made more of an impact here as well.
Very smooth to drink, this one had touches of fizz and a slight citrus tang but it went down easily. The beer was a fresh one with some sweetness throughout and a light-medium body.

A nice summertime beer that went down very well indeed, the beer had a good balance & there was a good helping of fruits throughout as well. I wouldn’t mind trying this one again at some point.

Had on tap at the brewery. A bit too sweet for me. Strong banana flavor with minimal spices.

Erzengel (9779) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - APR 25, 2014
On tap. The beer starts smooth, banana and clove. The mainpart is slightly sweet. Smooth and easy to drink. The mainpart is sweetish-smooth. Since yeasty notes. Banana which isn't too pushy. The aftertaste is smooth, not really bitter. Nice and not bad! 13/12/12/12
