Russet coloured and a little hazy with a full rocky head. Spicyish sort of aromas with a spine made of marmalade, cake, fruitbread, Macedonian halva and pecan nuts. It sounds sweet smelling, but it isn’t. But to taste the sweetness is first to the fore with rate honey, caramelised stonefruit and a twinge of nutmeg. There’s a good mouthful of bubbles and a slight bitterness, but the hops don’t appear terribly overt. It isn’t pale ale as we know it. It is more dessert than dinner. That said: a tasty drop, just not what I was expecting. omega (900) - NEW ZEALAND - NOV 19, 2011
Similar to the Southern Cross hopped beer, but the nose is much more fruit driven and this is expressed in the flavours as well.
