To celebrate the 500th Anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ voyage of discovery, Kalik created this limited edition, extra-strength brew in 1992. While only a limited number of commemorative bottles were initially envisioned, Chalk Gold became so popular that it has been enjoyed year-round in the Bahamas ever since.

Bottle: Good thing Columbus has been dead for centuries.... Add lots of sun & heat; drink freezing cold. Food Pairing: Malted Barley.

Thank you to Derek for this kind gift. Pours a clear, thin looking, golden with a small, bubbly white head that doesn’t last long. I don’t find much too of an aroma, just hints of grain, floral hops, and corn. Things pick up somewhat in the taste. Slightly sweet and bitter, we a good amount of grassiness, honey, and some biscuit. Unfortunately, these can’t cover up all of the grainy and metallic flavors. Short honey and grainy aftertaste. Medium bodied, smooth textured, and average in carbonation. I was kind of scared to drink this after I had the standard Kalik. I’m happy to report that this wasn’t completely repulsive.

Bottle in Key West. Dark gold color with thin white head that dissipates quickly. Light bread upfront with some mild bitterness. A bit more body that a standard light lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

slightly less crappy than regular old Kalik - about as nice a compliment I can pay to a pee looking standard pale lager, which is exactly what this is.

Bottle brought back to UK from Nassau, Bahamas. Pours golden with a bubbly white head. Aroma of corn. grass, malt and alcohol. Pretty sweet, light bitterness. Light/medium body. Sticky texture. Marginally better than standard Kalik but Kalik light edges it of the 3 I’ve tried from this brewer.

En stærk pilsner. Kalde sig for en guld øl, og har de også procenten for det, men smagenamger. En helt fin pilsner men heller ikke mere end det.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2017 Bottle courtesy of Raffaella C. and Marco A. L’intensità olfattiva è elevata e la persistenza olfattiva è sufficiente.

Bottle from grocery by Atlantis. Aged 2 days. Light gold with weak froth head that lasted. Nose is a bit skunk and malt. Light body and hides alcohol well. Some dark fruit ester notes and malt filler to go along with some grain and cereal. Won't get again most likely - the other Bahamian brews are a bit better except kalik which is weak sauce.

CH-303 (2197) - Fribourg, SWITZERLAND - DEC 21, 2015
Appearance: Pale, yellow golden. Clear. Some fizzy, white head.
Aroma: Light malt, grains?
Taste: Light malt, slight alcohol. Leaves an unpleasant taste in the mouth.
Bought: Kindly provided by Nipun J - thanks!, 355 ml

Better than its brother, Kalik. More body and a richer taste. Also more alcohol. This is, admittedly, a fairly low bar of comparison and there the compliments pretty much end. Objectionable aftertastes will remind you that this is not a finely crafted beer.
