tgrtnr (187) - Augsburg, GERMANY - MAR 13, 2017
UPDATED: APR 12, 2017 330 ml served in abbey glass. Dark brown, beige small head. Toffee, roasted malty aroma, dried fruits. Quite bitter for Doppelbock, sweet hint, slight metallic taste. Alcohol taste is strong and warm, but acceptable. Soft carbonated, full body, creamy oily texture. Bitter aftertaste. This beer has character and is definitely different from the better known Doppelbock beers.

zenkis (861) - Ogre, LATVIA - NOV 18, 2016
Clean, malty, toasty flavor. Thick and bold, i even liked this better than aventinus icebock. Maybe slightly melanoid flavor. Pours brown, unclear. Thick, slick texture.

YantarCoast (1370) - Moscow, RUSSIA - JUN 23, 2016
330ml bottle. Best before February 2016. Pours brown with a small light brown head. Aroma is dark fruits, lots of caramel, bread. Taste is caramel, raisins, malt. The 9% is very well disguised. Nice one.

Ritzn (1380) - GERMANY - FEB 23, 2016
Nice. Dried fruit (figs), chocolate, roast. A little too sweet but a perfect balance of bitterness. Medium body, creamy. All in all decent but I expected more complex aromas due to the high abv.

3/4/2010 11:58:07 AM Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Dark red body with no head. Syrupy and sweet nose. Taste quite sweet, some chocolate and dark fruits. Smooth and syrupy. Not bad.

malrubius (2900) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - JAN 13, 2016
Bottle. Amber with head and lace. Earthy roasted caramel aroma. Very roasted burnt caramel with earthy grains and bitter roasted minerally finish. Medium full body oily. Way overly burnt and bitter. Extra points for being a lot more alcohol than I thought. Good.

maekchu (3911) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAY 6, 2015
Bottle. Thanks to KL. Dark sugary nose, sweet raisins, and small yeast notes. Clear copper/brown color. Initial burst of mild dark fruit, then a fizzy bot of balance, and a lingering sweetness in the finish. Thin-medium body. Nice enough, but somewhat restrained for a doppelbock.

3.5
KyotoLefty (10264) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 5, 2015
Bottle from Oase. Nose of caramel, cherry, some chocolate, oranges. Pretty orange amber color. Very fruity flavor, oranges, nectarine, caramel. A bit thin. Decent but did not live up to expectations. Punches below its weight.
