draft in Budapest. first beer in town and it’s Slovakian. my notes say it’s "solidly nut brown", which I think means I either disagreed with it being labeled a porter or it fit more in with classic brown porter, regardless of gravity. comments on appearance: no lasting head. crisp, dry, toasty, nutty. all a good show early but the carbonation is quite rough, the acid moderately strong, the malt rough. syrupy caramel toffee nuts. noticeable
alcohol, and comes across as stick/bark-like and thorny... or something. I’m in Budapest.

In short: a sweet dunkel.
Pours hazy dark amber, with nice off white head. Moderate head retention, poor lacing. Malty, sweet, liquorice, raisins aromas. Light body, average carbonation, oily texture. Taste is really sweet, caramel, raisins, plums, ripe fruit, subtle fruit notes. Enjoyable.
Bottle at work, donated by PeterT. Pours hazy brown color, small beige head. Aroma of coffee, caramel, bit fruity and bit sourish. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, no sourish tones, what is great. Gurthnar (6197) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - DEC 20, 2012
Tap. Aroma is fruity, sugary, plums, light roasted malt and caramel. Taste is plums, raisins, sweet. Strong dominating alcohol, low drinkability. Only light malty background. Not very good... MoritzF (10095) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - JAN 31, 2012
(bottle, 100cl) Hazy, mahogany colour with a short and tanned foamy head. Roast-malty aroma with notes of chocolate and caramel. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Hearty roasty malt-character with notes of caramel, chocolate and marzipan; sweet and moderately roasty malty finish with masked alcoholic notes and a slightly hoppy and roasty bitterness. A tad too sweet for my liking. 27.XII.11
