On tap at the brewery on a visit with Max and Jess in 2014. Pours a brown to black with a thin white to tan head. Warm roast, bourbon on the nose. Bits of funk, wood, bourbon, tanginess. A touch tart, warm wood, chewy bourbon. MaxxDaddy (415) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAR 29, 2014
@ the source. Pours very dark brown with small off-white head. Aroma of bourbon and is kind if off putting. Can’t pin what that off aroma is. Smells almost like oxidation, but in a worse sort of way. Taste brings a light nuttiness typical of a brown ale with some bourbon. Doesn’t suffer the same problem as the BA Omna with over-aging. Palate is average. Finish is fairly clean with hints of nuts and bourbon. What an odd experience. Can’t say I’m a fan of this. egajdzis (6589) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 9, 2014
Dark brown reddish color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, caramel malts, brown sugar, and alcohol. Taste of caramel, wood, vanilla, bourbon, oatmeal, and lighter alcohol in the finish. pineypower (3327) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - MAR 3, 2014

Sample from brewery. Pours dark brown with medium heat and lacing. Bourbon aromas, followed by sweet malts, banana, chocolate. Hints of vanilla, especially in the aftertaste. Ends with a bitter note. Really interesting beer.

4oz sample from the brewery. Pours black with almost no head. Aroma of dark roast malt, bourbon, oak, and some darker fruits. Taste of barrel up front, some light bourbon notes, and finishes with dark chocolate, burnt toast, and sweet dark fruits. Jesterdeal (1985) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - JAN 3, 2014
On tap at Mexican Food Factory. Aroma of creamy vanilla oak, chocolate, and malt. Pours deep brown with a fluffy white head. Taste is creamy oak, vanilla, chocolate, toffee, and a nice malt. Light and fluffy bourbon marshmallow taste and feel. Good brew. closey22 (1946) - Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, USA - JAN 3, 2014
Dark brown slight red hilites filter though with a very foamy tan head; aroma is sweet vanilla bourbon notes; Flava is dry and sweet, notes of caramel and liquor and slight hints of chocolate; feels medium, slightly fizzy; finishes dry roasty. dogfishho (669) - Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA - DEC 24, 2013
Wow I doubt I’ve ever seen a bigger difference in a barrel aged beer compared with the base. The aroma is filled with fruity esters that are not evident at all in Driftline. There’s almost a Belgian quality to it. If you told me it was aged in Cabernet barrels I would have never doubted it. Sweet and tannic at the same time. Chocolate notes are augmented by cherry and vanilla. Does well with some warming. Yum conway (2210) - - DEC 21, 2013
Draft at the brewery. Cola colored with a thin tan head. Aroma is a little muted but has nice oatmeal and chocolate notes. Taste follows suit, with a hint of fudge and just the tiniest hint of bourbon on the finish. Slightly chewy medium mouthfeel. Pretty good but shockingly similar to the base beer. The barrel didn't seem to do much here.
