Solitude was inspired by the cold days of late winter and early spring on the coast, when the ocean temperatures keep a chill in the night air almost into early summer. A big dark beer that is comforting on a cold night, but with hints of dark fruits and a smoothness that suggests the coming of warmer weather, Solitude is a traditional dark strong fermented with our house Belgian yeast. Deep ruby reds highlight its dark color, and Belgian candi sugars add flavors of dark cherries and plums, complementing the subtle esters familiar to the style.

Malt: Pilsner, Abbey, Pale Chocolate, Caramel 120, dark candi sugar, flaked wheat

Had this once or twice at the Irish Mile but never ticked. Poured a brown color with smaller head. Notes of plum, dark fruit, candy sugar, belgian yeast, toast, and other sweet/dark strong flavors. Medium to fuller body.

skmikeg (1826) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 12, 2015
Pours dark reddish brown with a one finger tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of dark fruits, dark bready malts, belgian yeast, cherries, plums, brown sugar, light booze has it warms, and some fruity ethers. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma. Has a medium-full body with a creamyouthfeel and a semi warming, mostly sweet, long finish. Overall, a tasty, pretty complex belgian strong that would be even better on a cold winter night.

Tap at brewery. Copper pour. Candy, metallic, cherry and plum. Sour and sweet with sweet spicy finish. Medium body. Nice

John25 (1291) - Middletown, New Jersey, USA - MAY 22, 2015
Draft sample at Kane. Dark cola. Big classic dark belgian with raisin and plum throughout. Warm alcohol finish. I got a little buzz from just a sample. Smooth and rich. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

JerseyBrew (76) - Hillsborough, New Jersey, USA - JAN 31, 2015
Biggest problem with this beer is that they called it Belgian dark strong. This is in no way even close to the flavor or aroma of a belgian dark strong. None of his beer does. This is more like an over carbed northern English brown then anything else ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Underdogs88 (325) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 31, 2015
Malty aroma with cherry notes and hop bitterness on the nose. Appearance is a deep Amber with a tan head with a below avg head. Flavor is a malty toasty blend with notes of chocolate. The finish is super dry. Bitterness is very high. Mouthfeel is full with medium carbonation. Overall, the beer is lacking the malt complexity and is way too bitter and dry for a Belgian dark strong. It also lacks enough Belgian character from the esters and phenolic compounds.

closey22 (2132) - Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, USA - JUN 4, 2014
Cloudy dark brown with rimming tan head; aroma is rich and medicinal with notes of grain alcohol and chocolate; Flava is sweet with notes of molasses grain alcohol and roasted malt; feels medium chewy and silky kinda flat; finishes; finishes dry roasty

Draft at Winberie’s. Amber with thick white head. Smell is malt, dark fruit. Taste is the same. Crisp and clean. Some hops but mostly caramel/candy sugar/sweetness coming through.
