Koelschtrinker (21489) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 12, 2011
Test vom 12.12.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 14,12,13,13,15,13 - 13,05

Bready, toasty, malt forward aroma offers just a touch of soy. Clear, dark chestnut brown with ruby highlights is topped by low, tan-brown head that recedes to partial cover with some lace. Bready sugary malt flavour with light tartness in the fairly bitter finish. Medium body is quite dry with fairly lively, sharp, pointy carbonation. Bottle sampled at GBBF 2005.

kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - AUG 18, 2005
Bottle (GBBF): Big malty nose, toasted caramel and nuts. Ruby red brown in colour with lasting tan head. Nice lace too. Sweet toasty malts, lovely balanced finish. Feels bigger than 4.4, due to the smooth body. Nice.

maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - AUG 7, 2005
Bottle - GBBF 2005. A rich mahogany brown coloured beer with a slim tan head. The aroma is malty with caramel fudge toffee and alcohol. The taste is malty with some carachoc and some fruitiness. Reminds me a little of some English Old Ales.

pivnizub (10804) - Bochum, Porř, GERMANY - NOV 28, 2006
Bügelverschlußflasche: Reddish-amber coloured, big rocky tanned head, sticking to the glass; distinctive caramelly and roast-malty nose, dry hoppy aroma with a hint of fruit; dry (malty-)bitter flavour, light bodied, soft MF; dark-malty, coffeeish-bitter finish. A very pleasant Landbier, aromatic and moreish.............

gunnar (9688) - Sandnes, NORWAY - JUL 17, 2010

MoritzF (10095) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - JAN 2, 2007
(swing top bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a fluffy beige foam. Hearty roast-malty aroma, slightly bready with caramel and a touch of dried fruits. Bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied with a pleasant carbonation. Roasty, malty taste with caramel and cacao; moderately dry, roasty and bitter finish with a lingering caramel/toffee-note. Aromatic, well-rounded brew.

KyotoLefty (10675) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 22, 2010
Bottle in Vienna. Slightly sour, earthy aroma, good burnt malt taste, not sweet at all. Excellent, Czech style dark. Good roasted malt finish. Decent hops as well. An excellent dark beer, maybe the best in Austria. Doesn’t cloy like most of the others.

3.5
Erzengel (9446) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - JUL 25, 2017
*Old rating from 2010, bottle bought in Schärding. Great deep malty beginning. Round and smooth, dry with roasted hints, great smooth dark in the aftertaste.

3.4
Geiserich (4595) - Linz, AUSTRIA - JAN 22, 2005
Bottled:
"Gold brown" as the name says. Off-white fluffy head. Malty aroma with hints of coffee. Malty fresh taste, notes of burnt coffee. Only light sweet. Astringent finish, acid notes. A pleasant "coffee" Dunkel, not as sweet as other austrian dunkel.
