Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colin. Hazy amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is crisp and light. Food fine carbonation. Light malt. Whisper of vanilla. Light marmalade. Little hop and wood bitterness. Light red wine tang. Light bitter finish. Nice combo of marmalade and red wine. Tasty beer but really wants some dry hopping to bring the dipa character back. Hides the abv well.
Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Colin. Pours clear amber-gold with a frothy off-white head. The nose has ripe citrus, pale bread, some pine needles. Medium sweet flavor with some booze, berries, orange, bread, a bit of piney bitterness. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming to finish, some piney bitterness, ripe orange, pale wood. So so. Theydon_Bois (20184) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - JUN 27, 2014
Bottle split at Bruce’s Pad, from an IP trade with a real life Texan, as FUN 010, 24/06/14.
Lightly hazed orange amber with a a moderate light beige covering that retains well.
Nose us juicy fruits, caramel malts, light tropicana, dark red berry fruits, BA woody tones.
Taste comprises mango, grapefruit, tangy apricot, light booze, red wine rinse, Ribena berries, light pine needle - emphasis on ’needle’.
Medium + body, fine carbonation, fairly mellow hop bitterness in the close.
Decent enough offering. More of a DIPA than #9 in this series but still lacks some hop venom, again could benefit from dry hopping.
I iliked this one though. yngwie (17102) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 14, 2014
On tap at the Yard House, Houston. A lightly hazy, light amber colored beer with a small light beige head. It’s pretty sweet on the nose, fruity and alcoholic with a touch of oak less the vanilla. Some peach and pine cone hints. Some vinous hints too. It’s a bit too sweet and alcoholic in the mouth I think, but there’s actually enough bitterness to deal with it. The alcohol and wine shines through, as is the fruity, citrusy hops. It’s sure full bodied, with a nice carbonation level, and a bit too much alcohol warmth. Lasting warming and fruity finish with a vinous touch. A nice one, but too sweet and alcoholic I think. 140514

A hazy amber pour with an off-white head. Pretty nice nose on this. Floral hops, a bit of citrus zest, and some fruit/wine notes. Sweet toffee and caramel, lots of oak, and a hint of grass. The oak dominates the flavor. Some wine, fairly bitter, a mild acidity, some mineral notes, and a very light citrus quality. Definitely on the sweet side as well with a fair amount of toffee and caramel. djd07 (15293) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAY 6, 2012
