Merlot Barrel Aged DIPA. Sexy and smooth with legs for days, Bodacious is sure to arouse curiosity. After aging in barrels for several months, the hop aroma recedes slightly, giving way to a rich, velvety malt backbone combined with oak flavors from the barrel. Finally, upon swallowing, a delicate, lingering bitterness remains on the tongue. So enjoy this limited release in a group or in private...

Excellent beer. This is a very well balanced double I.P.A. That mixes a high 10% abv with a nice clean finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Great floral berry sweet tannic nose.Slightly pink gold with off white head. Nice integration of tannic berry senses into a hoppy beer.

Location: Draft at Whole Foods - Montrose, 4/1/14, as 010 Bodacious

Aroma: The nose has some really nice hops, grapefruit, clean malts, wood, and a bit of wine
Appearance: The pour is a clear orange, with an average sized white head and medium lace
Flavor: The flavor is lightly sweet, some wine flavor, and a good amount of hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a clean feel, some average carbonation, and a mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: I was impressed by this one. I really liked how the wine aging played on the base beer. Very nice stuff.

Got this via a trade with icetrauma, thanks man. 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy red orange color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, citrus rind, pineapple, orange, floral, light red wine, grass, caramel, light oak, light toast, and herbal earthiness. Very nice and unique aromas with nice balance and complexity. Taste of grapefruit, orange, pineapple, caramel, citrus zest, toast, light pine, floral, grass, light red wine, light oak, and light piney spiciness. Good amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pineapple, caramel, toast, light red wine, light pine, grass, floral, and light piney spiciness on the finish. Damn nice complexity and balance of flavors; with a fantastic malt/bitterness balance; and zero cloying flavors present on the finish. The wine barrel presence was much more subtle than expected, but it was really a great thing. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a creamy, slick, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent barrel aged DIPA! Nice flavor balance and complexity with the wine barrel aging; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours a reddish copper with an off white head. Opens up nicely with flavors of red wine and oak followed with a smooth piney aftertaste. A unique and delicious beer.

In stemware from tap. Pours a nice brown red with just a bit of head. Faint sweet aroma. Mouth feel is very light with some refreshing carbonation. Taste is hoppy and sweet in equal combinations but neither is too intense. The merlot cask really comes through. A yummy DIPA that doesnt beat you over the head!

Bottle as 010 bodacious. Big frothy 2 finger head pour. Amber orange color. Aroma of red wine? Really didnt expect that immediately, but it was aged in red wine barrels. Rosey flora smell, malty, and some light hopy notes. Brilliant move with the red wine barrels No bitterness. Medium body. Way too drinkable for a double IPA. This can go down quick. This is a wine drinkers IPA. Clever beer. Big fan.

Generous extra from cloaked-thanks! Slightly cloudy magenta tinged orange. Nose of caramel malts, light red wine. Full bodied, caramel malts, red wine and oak barrel. This worked for me and much better than I expected. Batch 10 edition (2014) enjoyed April 2015.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2014 Also known as Bodacious? Pours dark gold with a hint of red. Nice big white fluffy head. Nose is slightly winey, some hops, grassy, musty, malty. Taste has some barrel winey notes, very bitter, hops are somewhat subdued, alcohol is present and standing. Dry and bitter finish. Medium body. Interesting take on a barrel beer. FUN series #1. 10/4/14 FUN #10. Nice winey barrel notes and still drinks very fresh.

bomber. The only think I didnt like about this product was the hefty sticker price. Ouch! Pours a dark amber w/ a reddish tint. Nose is vinous and oak. Taste is of red wine, citrus and some sweet malt. A different combination, but very tasty! Mouhthfeel is smooth and bitter, but not the powerful bite of some other IIPAs. Typically, I dont care for oak-aged IPAs, but i do like this one, probably because of the wine barrel flavor working so well with this IIPAs base beer. Good brew, but the price is too high, IMO.
