Highland Village, Tx. - Whole Foods - on tap. Deep, dark brown pour, medium thick off-white head, light film of lacing. Molasses, creosote, baker’s unsweetened chocolate in the aroma. Flavor has some raisin sweetness, a touch of chocolate, a brief hint of bourbon, but not overwhelming or distracting. Nice thick mouthfeel. Enjoyable, even though it us triple digits outside. Originally rated on 5/7/14. Had this at the brewery this past saturday, fresh outta the tap.I didnt really dig the regular version of this when i tried it last so.. Pours a pitch black color with a 2 finger dark tan head, that reduces to a nice cap. Good lacing bands around the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, bread, vanilla, toffee, clove, oak, bourbon, light coffee, and roasted earthiness. Taste of dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, toast, vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, oak, bourbon, and roasted earthiness. Nice complexity of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/barrel flavor balance. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied, alcohol is well hidden.Overall this is a excellent barrel aged porter. jhamp9 (1965) - Corinth, Texas, USA - JUL 7, 2015
Near black pour with a beige head. Viscous lacing. Aroma is bourbon up front, milk chocolate, roast, and faint licorice. Taste is again bourbon forward with molasses, dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and char. Some alcohol warmth. Slick full body. Really nice. dyetube (1378) - Hurst, Texas, USA - JUL 5, 2015
On tap at Dallas Beer Kitchen. Pours black with a thin tan head. The aromas are vanilla, bourbon, coffee, chocolate. Mouthfeel is dry and bitter with an oily feel and heavy body. Cheers! DrunkSanta410 (972) - Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA - JUN 5, 2015
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2015 Tap at Karbach. Black pour, light tan head. Decent retention. Aroma is huge bourbon, oak, vanilla and light cocoa. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, light cocoa and some fruity espresso notes. Thinner mouthfeel being a porter, and well carbonated. Moderate alcohol burn. Leaves some lace in the glass. Very good!

Dark brown pour with a nice light tan head. Bourbon and chocolate malt nose. Chocolate malt taste, bourbon and chocolate then bourbon with a bit of a harsh boozy and slight turpentine finish. Fin (10917) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 25, 2015
Bottle tasting courtesy of Colin at Craft Clerkenwell (thanks Colin!) Friday 24th April 2015 Pours very dark brown almost black with a tan head. Lovely bourbon nose not to pushy, warming alcohol a little more in mouth, some beefy stock picked up on the nose. Soft in the mouth but despite what I was expecting I did not get the full on thick mouthfeel and anticipated velvetyness. In fact the bourbon was a little ragged in the mouth and came across more than I expected and this also tasted a little thinner, also I was really surprised that it was nigh on 11%. In the mouth there is a smooth vanilla and wood get together going on and some chocolate and coffee have a little dalliance, I liked this and wanted to be ’wowed’ but in the end though it was just good as opposed to being great Thanks again Colin for letting me try this. Bottle split at Pedro leaving drinks, from an IP trade, as 007 24/04/15.
Pitch black with a decent dirty tan head that retains well.
Nose is rich roast, spice, bourbon strains, charr, treacle toffee, chocolate.
Taste comprises cocoa powder, big bourbon strokes, treacle toffee, charr, chocolate fudge, malt.
Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a subtle booze streak.
Decent BA impy, bourbon not so subtle at times but a pretty balanced affair all told. Scopey (15725) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2015
Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is earthy, meaty, unanimously, sweet vanilla, wood, rocky road and juicy bourbon. The taste is rich, bitter, roasted malt, earth, cocoa, toasty coconut, mild acidity, booze, wood, oily, chewy malt, vanilla, bourbon, light acidity and charred wood with a warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Solid BA impy. johnnybeers99 (32) - Texas, USA - APR 24, 2015
This beer is fantastic. Flavors are chocolate, roasty, malt, bourbon, dark fruits and just plain fantastic. This beer was way better than most if not all bourbon barrel beers I have tried. BCBS and all the other posers should get in line. Total home run. WIsh I would have bought all of them. Nice job Karbach! Again !
