Bottle… Pours lightly hazy and amber with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The aroma is a swirl of oak, vanilla, bourbon, citrusy hops, dried fruits, floral notes and a whisper of pine. Medium to full-bodied with airy carbonation. The flavor offers a mellow aspect of bourbon, a trace of toffee, caramel, vanilla and citrus-rindy hop bitterness. Lengthy, bittersweet finish. coachd (834) - Missouri, USA - MAR 19, 2015
Great aroma. Bourbon, oak, malt sweetness and citrus hops make a complex combination. I love the dark reddish brown appearance as well. A dense ivory cap of foam clings to the top. Taste is certainly oak, bourbon and alcohol burn like many of my favorite imperial stouts, but with a different aftertaste. I’m getting some of the malt backbone of the IPA in the taste, but not much of the hops. It comes off like imperial stout light. Still decent though. Palate is good, overall I can tell this is a very well made beer. Also a great idea to barrel age a DIPA; perhaps they should have used a ridiculously hoppy base beer because the hops get lost in translation. crossovert (12874) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 3, 2015
Draft. Amber pour, heavy vanilla notes which surprisingly lend nicely to the slight citrus hop notes. burg326 (5482) - Florida, USA - JUL 11, 2014

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Lightly hazy amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and light with fine carbonation. Soft malts. Light floral dried fruits. Mellow bourbon. Light malt cream, trace of toffee - caramel. Light airy finish. Tasty and light but really could have used some dry hopping to bring back some ipa character.
Bottle shared at Bruce’s Pad from an IP trade with a real life Texan - yeee ha ! 12/06/14.
Almost clear golden amber with a moderate light beige swirl.
Nose is candyfloss, caramel malt, spice, candied orange peel, light tropicana, hoppy pangs.
Taste comprises Caramac bar, light hop presence, spice, toffee, candied fruit peels.
Medium + body, moderate carbonation, sweet licks in the close with a lightly warming boozey jacket.
Ok, not a DIPA for me, not enough hop presence - had this down as an American Strong. Scopey (14699) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 14, 2014
Bottle big thanks to Colin. It pours hazy amber with a small off-white head. The nose is candied orange peel, orange sponge cake, caramel, light vanilla and oak. The taste is crisp, orange peel, some bitterness, candied fruits, sponge cake, sticky fruits and some booze. Fullish body, fine prickly carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Pretty boozy, but fun stuff anyhow. yngwie (17049) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 16, 2014
On tap at the Hay Merchant. It’s an almost clear one, amber in color and with a dense, finger-thick beige head leaving lacings. Caramel, vanilla, a faint booze hint, some dried fruits, pine cones and citrus peel in the aroma. It’s sweet on the palate, with caramel, dried fruits, hints of vanilla, some citrus peel, pine cones and perhaps not enough bitterness A little dark chocolate touch too. Lightly warming, full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated. Sweet and bitter finish. I’m normally not a fan of barrel ageing DIPA’s, but this is really well done. 140515 gkeh (482) - Texas, USA - MAY 1, 2014
Dark ruby red pour, one-finger tan head. Nice legs on it, beautiful looking beer. Man, let this baby warm up well before you enjoy it. it’s got a great aroma on it. Vanilla, sweet caramel, licorice, very mild hop bitterness, and some sweet alcohol. Taste is a little more bitter than the nose would let on, with a slight grapefruit taste. Very dry finish. Good stuff! markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - APR 23, 2014
Bottle courtesy of a recent Tampa Tasting. Pours a hazy orange with a white head. Nose is malt, oak, vanilla, bourbon, some citrus hop character. Flavor is similar: bourbon, caramel, oak, vanilla, and some hops trying to punch through the bourbon blanket. Medium in body, syrupy, boozy, and bitter; an interesting combination.
