3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On cask at Sugarland Flying Saucer. I have yet to try an IPA on cask that I like better than the keg. I compared this (in pints) side by side against Endeavor and Maharaja. They all look almost identical in the glass. Hop Delusion is is full of fruit and pine, but (this cask version at least) is not as hoppy and citrusy as Endeavor. This version lacks the hop punch I love in a IIPA. It’s still good, and I look forward to doing the same comparison when I find it on keg instead of cask. Bring on the Valkyrie, Southern Star! I think you’ll have a winner for best IIPA produced in the Houston area and perhaps beyond.
On tap at Whip In, pours a clear copper golden with a small beige head. Aroma brings out dank hops, biscuity malt and some weed. Flavour is oily and dank, with resinous hop oils, dank notes, weed and some rough alcohol. It works, but could use some tidying up. Okay. Andrew196 (1993) - Katy, Texas, USA - NOV 8, 2017
A beautiful beer, pours a rich honey color, fluffy ivory colored head. Nose is citrus, pineapple, very big and fresh, zest galore, summer fruits. Big follow through on the tongue, surprisingly creamy with a slight burn towards the back. Nice caramel maltiness throughout, breads, resin, citrus, lovely bitterness. Lots going on here. A tad too astringent for me but good overall. rosenbergh (11799) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 28, 2016

Cloudy deep golden color with a mid-size foamy off-white head.
Sweet fruity hops, moderate bitterness, caramel malt and some watermelon in the aroma. The flavor is fruity and resiny hops, strong bitterness, sugary sweetness and caramel malt. Hoppy IIPA.
Delicious. Draft pour at axelrad in Houston. Orange. Tangerine and apricots. Super fruity. Delicious. mrohia (280) - Ohio, USA - AUG 8, 2016
Karbach, Houston, draft. Smells....earthy? Malty? Acorns? Bark? Copper-colored. A little mediciney. Dank. Pretty good.

May 2016 - Bottle share at Floor 42 with many thanks to LKS for the Texan Tick. As ’Karbach Hop Delusion’. Amber orange, clear, lightly sparkling, dense foamy beige head. Aroma is boiled sweets, caramel and toffee, pineapple cube sweets and various other sweet stuff. Body is frothy and rounded. Taste is sweet toffee and sugar cane, resinous pine hops, grassy finish. A decent enough hoppy number, but too sweet for me. (3.6) skiatd1 (52) - New Hampshire, USA - JUL 10, 2016

Cask conditioned, fresh and bright zest nose. Dull yellow pour, no head. Almost no carbonation. Plenty of bitterness and the dank taste isn’t lingering.
