It’s a job. And a hazardous one at that. Benefits, you ask? I hardly think so. But the show must go on. So, it’s with bravado that the Rodeo Clown takes his place in the arena lights. Whether or not he’s insane is not important right now. It’s with grit and intensity that the Clown steps in the path of almost certain destruction. Our Double IPA is much the same. At 9.5% ABV, Rodeo Clown Double IPA coats the tongue in bitterness and packs a punch that will knock a bull on its ass . Intense and maybe a little insane drink carefully, but drink often. Ladies and Gentlemen, let the show begin.

Can,11/24/2012, Pours clear amber, medium frothy head with decent retention, watery lacing. Aroma is spicy caramel malts with nice citrus, tropical hop notes- pineapple, melon, orange- pine resin secondary. Taste is sweet caramel malts, blending nicely with big piney, tongue tingling hops, light citrus. Medium palate, avoids being too resinous so pretty smooth and drinkable. Not bad at all.

A tap offering at Dot's in Dallas with blonderedhead. Pint glass. Closer to amber in color. Leans more on a darker color palette. Nose features a malty bubblegum sweetness without bringing much citrus or hop pine to the equation. Taste is much more interested in the maltt sweet end of the spectrum. Bubblegum and sugary candied characteristics. Alcohol presence felt more than warranted. I think there are better options available. Just lacking balance. The bull wins.

12 oz via can from a friend. Aroma of resinous hops, pine, mild caramel malt, and light toasty/bready notes. Similar flavor, adding moderate hop bitterness and a mild grainy sweetness Medium to full body with a balanced finish. Not bad.

[2015 Backlog] Can shared at Pauls for the FF tasting. Pours a golden amber body with off white head. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with notes of spice, miscellaneous fruits, bready malts, pine and yeast.

An oddly delicious beer. I love IPA's but double IPA beers are even better. They pack a hefty punch and match that with flavor. This one is very good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From can to glass. Clear copper with smallish off-white head. Cloying malts from the alcohol. Could have attenuated more of the sugar out.

jgb9348 (6478) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - APR 2, 2017
Deep amber and copper in colour with a large, four centimetre tall tan head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of biting grassy and herbal hoppiness with some big sets of alcohol, biscuits, malt, yeast, grain and pungency - this shows a lot and hops aren’t the strongest thing in there. Medium to Full-bodied; Super pungent and bitter flavours with the grain and alcohol showing through the strongest, but then showing some biscuity and nutty malts with caramel sweetness and a pungent, very bitter hop note as well. Aftertaste shows alcohol, warm sweetness from caramel and toffee and a definite earthy and pungent flavour from the malt, alcohol and hops, in that order. Overall, a decent beer at best, but this is far too pungent, malty, bitter and strong for the style or to make it worthwhile. I sampled this twelve ounce can a few minutes after returning from my first circus (and CLOWN) ever in my life, at Ringling Brothers’ Circus in Washington on 01-April-2017 with my kids, with this twelve ounce can purchased from Spec’s in Dallas, Texas on 11-November-2015 for US$3,78 sampled at home in Washington on 01-April-2017.

Pours with dark amber and head in white. Nose is rich malty with hefty herbal and citric notes. Taste is really round, high viscosity and and rich in herbal notes and citrus. Palate is extremely long and lasting with remaining tastes.incredible beer.

Terminus (3716) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 16, 2017
Tap at the friendly spot Pours bright clear dark orange hue with a small soapy off white head and great lacing. Nose is all c hops old school I ipa. I love it! Lots of citrus canned pineapple grapefruit just lovely. Flavors are huge grapefruit canned/candied citric fruits, lite sweetness. Very balanced with some nice caramel malts. Very under appreciated I iipa if you ask me.

January 9, 2017 - on tap at Hofbrau. Dark orange pour with nice amount of head that lasted. Aroma and taste that were citrusy hops and malt. Nicely balanced and very drinkable at almost 10%.
