COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Robust all day without dictating your life, this is the porter that other dark beers hang a poster on their own bedroom wall. Malt sweetness is just present enough to enhance the dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavors without destroying the drinkability. This brew provides a subtle smoke profile that simultaneously creates new fans of dark beer and tames the beast inside the bold-beer aficionado.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2018 pours black with a tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee. The smoke comes through in the taste. Lovely flavor profile. Smoky with some black coffee and roasted malt. Long finish and linger same as the taste. Pretty damn good!

Great dynamic woody, nutty with hints of cocao. The boutique of this dark, heady frothed wonder did not disappoint. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Taste: smoked wood, tobacco, peat, molasses, malt, burnt caramel notes. Mild firewood nose. Black/Brown hue, opaque, with smaller head and delicate ring lace. Medium body. Mild version of a Rauschbier.

Pours a deep brownish black on tap with fluffy tan head that dissipates to leave light lace. Aroma of nice balanced smoke and chocolate. Taste is more of the smoke, less of the chocolate, mild bitterness. Decent.

tmoreau (4805) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - AUG 17, 2017
On tap at the brewery bar as a 5 oz. flight serving, showing a black/brown hue, a decent layer of tan froth, with sprayed-like lacing on the glass. The nose was roasted, mocha notes, with light sausage & smoke. The taste was similar, medium bodied, with low carbonation, but a nice, malt silkiness to the mouthfeel. Standard, but tasty.

Keg @ Karben4. Deep brown pour with a dark tan head. Espresso and light smokiness on the nose. Charred grain. Nicely supple and creamy. Accents of licorice. More smoke. Cocoa and roasted coffee. Well put together, nice nuances. I dig it. Really solid porter.

wlajwl (7278) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - JAN 27, 2017
Aroma is smoked/dark malts and mild bacon. The flavor is smoked malts, mild BBQ, fruit/dark fruit and a very dry/acidic finish.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice smoke note with roasted malts and dark grains supporting. Flavor does a nice job of combining dark grains, roasted malts and a nice skokiness.

Drake (14358) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 23, 2016
Keg at Hopcat Madison, 8/15/16. Dark brown, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roasted malt, smoke, chocolate, ham. The taste is smoke, roasted malts, hints of chocolate. Medium bodied.
