during FMG delegation visit 5ix13. Clean rye biscuit of a Bohemian-inflected APA with sweetish malt notes, more like a heavier vienna. Neatly tied-in ?Saaz hops. Nicely brewed and doubtlessly sessionable, but failed to make a connection with this EU-grounded palate this particular night. Willing to re-evaluate when bottled any time...
On tap at Tipsy Cow, Madison... Pours a caramel orange hue, somewhat transparent, and topped with a creamy white to barely off-white head... Aroma of mild citrus and floral notes upfront backed by some caramel and bready undertones. Ok... Crisp citrus and bready notes, semi-sweet on the onset but a mild bitter note soon follows curtailing that. Medium bodied with adequate carbonation. Not bad. Flavors trump the aroma. Draft at the brewpub. Nice amber appeal, drinks with a gristy but not gritty character. Drinks with a citrus flourish with an added bit of wheat-like chewiness and an orange-rind finish. (#5106, 7/2/2013)

ON draught at the Karben4 brewery taproom in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear bright copper brown colored brew with a creamy off-white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some excellent lacing. Aroma of malty caramel, some light toffee and a hint of brown sugar. Taste is where the rye malt is more pronounced. Medium bodied, with caramel, rye and a little spicy hops. Finish is semi-sweet with a short spicy hop bite followed by some English mild dry hop presence. Fruit Loops? Did not detect that but maybe with some extra coriander may bring that out but I wouldn’t change a thing with this rye pale ale.
