Less would be enough. With its rich copper colour Tosi Vahva (Special Strength) Karhu is generously malted and flavoured with the best hops. It is a balanced, special strength and full-bodied beer.

There is a 8.8 % version of this, which is sold in the Tax Free shops on the cruiseships from/to Finland. Ratings should, however, be put under this entry.

Finn (8256) - Tromsø, NORWAY - FEB 27, 2008
Bottle 0,33l. Dark golden brown colored. A creamy lasting head. Sourish aroma. Strong flavor dominated by roasted malt. A bit too carbonated. Aftertaste of sweet paper. Some dry bitterness in the finish. Alcohol shining through. KI=7

taunusmies (385) - FINLAND - FEB 16, 2008
Pours clear with dark copper colour. Quite harsh, hoppy taste. A bit metallic. Short unpleasant aftertaste. This was a slightly disappointing experience.

FatPhil (17160) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - DEC 21, 2007
330ml bottle.
Tasted in an IVB blind tasting.
Tosi vahva does not mean "special strength", it means more like "truly strong". Deep orange, mouldy-looking head. Metallic aroma. Odd sour mushroomy taste accompanied by some otherwise fairly bland malt. Occasional taste of swimming pool, and as a bonus a mysterious bit of "nasty".

RichardGretton (4796) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUN 26, 2007
Bottle @ Oluthuone Kaisla, Helsinki, Finland. Dark brown beer with a light head. The aroma is lightly malty and the flavour is slightly roasted and quite weakly malty. Overall a plainly malty and weakly dry beer.

Quinten (1062) - zaandam, NETHERLANDS - MAR 14, 2007
Dark colde color, medium head, used to be in a alco store but had it on a bar in helsinki,..very overwalming alcohol, with no charactar at all.
Nice to get cheap drunk in finland.

Bov (13284) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - NOV 1, 2006
can; courtesy of oh6gdx - clear and dark amber colour with a very little foam; a gentle malty nose with a hint of toastiness; sweet maltiness, some biscuity and dusty notes in the finish, ashes - the 8% are quite well hidden

larsga (7668) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 28, 2006
UPDATED: JUN 29, 2007 Biggish offwhite head over chestnut brown body. Faint, sweetish aroma with notes alcohol, caramel, and a little grass. Taste is sweet roasty caramel with notes of grass and marzipan. Slick, slightly buttery mouthfeel. Watery aftertaste with some bitterness, lingering alcohol taste and some alcohol heat. Quite good if warm, but a bit much alcohol. (0.33l bottle.)

Tranquillity (2532) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 15, 2006
Bronze colour. Smell of tobacco. Surprisingly sweet taste of.. .nothing. Lacking finish as well.

mabjork (693) - Vasa, FINLAND - SEP 13, 2006
Bottled. Dark copperlike colour with a disappearing white head. The aroma is sweet with alcohol and malt. The flavour has a sparkling carbonation sansation, it’s very sweet and there is caramel as well. It has an abrupt finish not all that balanced, regrettably.

Dorqui (2262) - Brescia, ITALY - SEP 10, 2006
UPDATED: SEP 14, 2007 Bottled 0,33L. Compact head of medium duration. Dark orange color, much loads, nearly burnt, with light a fizz. Sweetish and gaunt scnet with decidedly alcoholic notes and sweetened malt. Extremely unbalanced and sugary taste; overbearing alcoholic with notes of singed caramel. Sweetish, balsamic and unbalanced.

Thanks to mabjork for this beer.
