22 oz. bottle from Sea Trader Liquor & Deli - Pours a slightly hazy deep copper color with a 3/4 finger thick light tan head. Very light lacing. Aroma is oak/bourbon, toasted malt, esters, and vanilla. Very nice. Flavor is much of the same. Finish is soft and smooth. Alcohol is noticeable, but not overbearing. An excellent beer. Bottle donated by Thorpe429. Thanks Mike!
The beer is copper hued with a thin, light tan head. Upon tilting the snifter, a nice sheet of lacing coats the sides of the glass.
The aroma offers oak, vanilla, bourbon. Smells strong and bold. nicely done.
A bit sweet, though certainly not lacking in flavor. Loads of bourbon, oak, and vanilla. A bit of heat in the finish. A nice beer to sip and savor. Best in small quantities, or enjoyed over a prolonged period of time. Recommended.

Orange. Lots of caramel, molasses, and toasted malt with bourbon and light oak. 48FanInCali (857) - California, USA - FEB 11, 2012
22oz bottle. Maple syrup color pour with a head you can count down with one hand. Nose is pretty awesome and full of caramel, toffee, vanilla, and bourbon. Taste sets back a little as the strong nose doesn’t quite hold in the taste. Similar notes just not as pronounced on the sweet side. Surprisingly a bit thin as well. All in all an above average BA Old Ale that will not be confused with a BA4D.

Thanks to PeteinSD for this one. Red-brown pour with a light tan head. Aroma is light bourbon, burnt brown sugar, dark fruit, wood. Taste is dark fruit, molasses, bourbon, oak, nice sweetness. Complex flavors that meld together well. Creamy!

Bottle at a ChrisO tasting, London. Pours clear ruby with a small, white cream head. Boozy malts in the nose, with some caramel and toasty bread. Big sweet flavor with lots of caramel, golden raisins, nice toffee. Full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Big sugary finish with lots more caramel character, mild warmth, almost no bitterness. Quite sweet but very characterful. A good sipper. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JAN 24, 2013
(22oz bomber thanks to bu11zeye) cloudy amber-orange with soapy white bubbles. Nose of bourbon, vanilla, rich, graham cracker, light alcohol, toasty caramel, coconut. Taste of caramel, vanilla, toasty marshmallow, light alcohol and bourbon. Great vanilla/marshmallow linger, medium carbonation and body, excellent linger. 22 oz bottle from Shane. Thanks!
A: Caramel coloration with a creme head that’s content to rest around the edges. Surprisingly light on its legs.
N: Caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, and malts. Honey at the edges, and plenty of deep oak.
T: Tasty bourbon mixed with ample vanilla and honey. Caramel and toffee make for a sugary treat. Still balanced, I get some bitterness of hops and a hint of dried pineapple.
M: Rather light for an Old Ale. It doesn’t ruin the beer, but it could use some further heft and stickiness. However, it does drink far too easily for a 12.2% beer since the alcohol is shockingly absent.
O: A well-rounded beer. Balanced and enjoyable; Drink it soon, I think.

Bomber purchased at Bine & Vine fifteen months ago ($10.99). Pours a very hazy brown-amber hue with a half finger of beige foam that quickly recedes to nothing. AROMA of rich toffee, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, maraschino cherry, and some spice. FLAVOR of dark caramel, vanilla, pipe tobacco, mild chocolate, molasses, and a bit of woody bourbon. Finishes with a moderated sweetness. The quite high ABV is really well concealed here. Another quality anniversary brew from Karl. (50, 801)
