COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“To kick off this series of intense hoppy beers, we wanted to go big. Imported New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops provide a vibrant tropical aroma that raises eyebrows and expectations. Aggressive amounts of Warrior and Ahtanum hops produce an assertive bitterness that stands out against a firm malt backbone. Balanced even at 90 IBUs, Big Barrel leaves a considerable first impression that serves as a prelude of things to come.” According to a brewery rep, the beer will be distributed throughout Southern California and they’re planning on doing 1,000 cases of 22’s. Specs: Color 15.4 SRM ALC 9.0% IBU 90 PLATO 20

BlackHaddock (7232) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - AUG 20, 2014
Costa Mesa Karl Strauss place: happy hour on-tap $4.00 pint on 9th July 2014. Light amber pour with a thin white wisp for a head. Bitter and hoppy from the start, I really enjoyed it. The hop combination works well and what malt content there is prevents the bitterness getting completely out of hand. Very drinkable.

tiong (7194) - Espoo, FINLAND - JUL 4, 2015
650ml bottle from Bier-Deluxe

Bottled November 2014 :( - Pours yellowish golden with a smooth white head. Aroma of zesty lemon, citrus, grass, sweet grassy notes, hay, hints of aged hops and loads of caramely maltiness. Taste is crisp, sweet and a bit stuffy with some grassy hay notes, pine, resin, citrus and hints of old hops. Finish is crisp, sweet and bitter with some maltiness, caramel, sticky citrus, pine and resin. Not very fresh, but surprisingly tasty still.

Bottle shared by argo0: Pours a clear deep golden bronze with a stringy-lacing white head. Has a fresh citrusy hoppy nose with a touch of light malty sweetness. Starts with pretty good fullness and a light toasty caramel sweetness with some good resiny hop notes before a crisp bittersweet finish. A true to style and drinkable IPA.

5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JAN 14, 2011
Bottle:   Golden hued amber, very faint haze, moderate to large foamy white head, fairly clingy lacing.   Soft grapefruit like aroma, a little bit of dank herbalness and muted candied citrus peel.   A little unfinished tho, seems like some medicinal/fusel like alcohol.   Yeah, almost a perfume like backend that is very distracting.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, not real heavy but at least its somewhat smooth.   Finishes with a hoppy semi-sweet perfumy alcohol like medicinal grapefruit.   Meh... not as good as I was hoping.   Thanks Ron for the bottle!
