On tap at Karl Strauss Beer Gardens in the Mira Mesa area. Dark amber color. Big, thick and lacy beige head formation. Kind of a subdued aroma of caramelized sugars, crystal malt and a medium hops spicyness. Flavor is a lot less bitter than I expected for a double. Notes of cinnamon and caramel. Hops stand out more in the finish. Not bad. JohnnyJ (5570) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 2, 2009
I’m not sure if this is the correct beer. I had an Imperial IPA on tap at PP Carlsbad. Dark amber pour, off-white head. Citrus, grapefruit, floral hops, caramel malt, and some biscuits. Well balanced and not too overwhelming. AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - JAN 6, 2010
Clear orange color/ fleeting beige head. Grape fruit rind, tooty fruity hop aromas. medium body. Good grapefruit and dank grassy hop flavors on a solid caramel base. Nice bittersweet finish. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JAN 29, 2010
On tap at the Old Columbia brewpub. Has a sweet honey aroma, also some butterscotch to the scent. Light amber with a thin white head. The flavor has delicious hop citrus grapefruit and mango. This beer has an intense malt flavor. A very classic IPA-like palate. It’s good beer but it’s not great. User29624 (1683) - - FEB 15, 2010
Picked up this bottle while in San Diego. Pours copper with a white head. Nice strong hoppy aroma with lots of citrus. The 9% ABV is well hidden without being overly sweet. Great citrus flavor. Nice work.

Bottle. Pours with a clear orange body and a massive off-white head. Aroma of orange, light tropical fruits, caramel, a bit of pine and a touch of lemon. Taste is herbal and citrus (lemon). Odd battle with the nelson and the warrior. Caramel, stuffing (of all things). Bitter, clean finish, but odd flavors. Dry. Creamy carbonation. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - MAR 22, 2010
Golden with a fizzy white head. Big grapefruit pine and caramel aroma and taste with a sticky resiny finish. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - MAR 25, 2010

Bottle from Wholefoods. Clear orange with a fizzy off white head. Good earthy herbal hops aroma. Tastes of grass and pine up front followed by a decent bitterness and finishing with a caramel, citrus, and toffee sweetness.
22oz bottle. Rating #55. Dark orange with an off-white head with really nice head retention. Aroma was citrus upfront with a little pine in the background. Thin body and light hops, more citrus and very easy to drink, not bad overall, just seemed to lack that little something. (1150) HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - MAY 9, 2010
Bottle thanks to Stefanje. Orangish amber pour with a big, thick off white head. I think it grew in the glass. Aroma is floral, with pine, citrus, a bit dank. Light caramel malt in the background. Flavor is resiny pine, citrus, mild tropical fruit, pretty nice bitterness. Quite nice to drink. Body is medium, creamy mouthfeel. Finished with a bit of herbal hops. Pretty great beer. rotoguru (126) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 9, 2010
SD trip, Karl Strauss LaJolla: Another DIPA and a real good one. Nice hazy orange/amber color. Strong hop nose and flavor as expected; citrus and floral hops then a smooth finish. Very good and much smoother than the Idiot (Coronado).
