650ml bottle. Barely clear, orangey, deep goldn colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Floral, yeasty aroma, sweet-ish fruity background, notes of yellow berries, yellow stone fruit, a toch of orange zest, cautious spicy yeasty overtones. Taste has a minimally sweet caramel malty basis, some fruitiness, a touch of peach, hints of honey biscuits, a strand of peppery yeast spiciness is constantly and clearly present; super soft palate. Nice yeasty character, quite weak on the hop side. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - MAY 6, 2011

Bottle at Victor’s bracket box tasting at Paul’s. Pours a lightly hazed orange amber with a thin white head. Spicy hops, toast, soft herbal notes. Medium bodied, toast and touches of caramel. Grapefruit bitterness starts early and lingers on the finish. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - AUG 10, 2011
Sampled on 7/23/2011. This Double IPA pours a dark orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is fruity, sweet, yeasty and hoppy. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are fruity, sweet, orange and apricot. The hops are herbal and citrusy. Fruity and sweet then bittering at the finish. With a name like Black Ball I was expecting a Black IPA. Hint of orange peel and coriander, maybe some pepper as well. Hides the alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. mjg74 (3093) - La Mesa, California, USA - AUG 24, 2011

Bottle:   Orangish straw, a little dark and hazy, small sudsy white head, spotty lacing.   Musty citrusy nose.   Sweet candyish citrus peel on the tongue.   Seems a bit musty, perhaps thats the yeast.   A bit
fruity, somewhat tropical, malty, and not all that hoppy.   Smooth on the tongue, but does seem a bit dank and musty.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Musty sweet candied citrus peel on the exit.   Not a bright
example, and not all that hoppy.   Wished it were more floral, and less musty/basement like, but as is its not half bad.
