A roasty chocolate malt aroma. Definite sweetenss comes through in the nose. The beer is black with a tan head. It looks a little muddy and crude as well. Flavor is intensely roasty, nutty, and chocolatey. It finishes pretty crisp with a lingering coffee flavor. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - JUN 30, 2007

Draught at Karl Strauss La Jolla: Light tar color, nose of fruity dark plum and raisin, some dark caramel and light roast. The flavor is a bit metallic and thin, comparatively. Decent tail. tkrjukoff (4334) - SWEDEN - AUG 29, 2013

Hazy and very dark brown color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was of sweet chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor had a sweat and big coffee front then a chocolate finish. Light to medium bodied with a lively mouthfeel.

On tap at Carlsbad location. Color of dark brown with a light chocolate head. Aroma of chalky malt, roasted malt and cocoa. Flavor was chalky, roasted and cocoa. Fairly standard for the style, lacking anything special. Palate was a bit watery. Just ok. jeremytoni (3083) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - AUG 16, 2009
