Decent black ipa. HEavy on the malt bitterness rather than the hops which is nice but it didn’t have a full round flavor. saxo (18291) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - JUL 17, 2012
Tap @ the brewpub, San Diego. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich hops, roast malt, coffee, chocolate and has a long bitter finish. ghawener (1607) - Santa Tecla, EL SALVADOR - JUL 12, 2012
Draft: It’s good but undefined, I’d rather drink a brown ale or an IPA, but not both. Time to work on a differente style, IPA & DIPA are being destroyed. Food Pairing: Fish and Chips + Cheese platter.

Sampled in a bomber. Pours deep brown with a thin head on it. The Rye is subtle but smooth and compliments the hops. Malts are smooth as well. hayduke (5203) - Eureka, California, USA - JUN 23, 2012
A bomber shared with Strykzone on Facebook Char as again we each opened the same beer 1,500 miles apart. This is an emerging style that is challenging some brewers as it is not always that good. This one is a winner. It poured very dark tending toward black with a huge creamy tan head and gorgeous lacing rings. The bubbles were very large and it was fun to watch them burst. Gorgeous pour. The nose is very rich, with chocolate, light roasted coffee, and anise.. Some hop citrus aromas drift up as well. The body is medium and the mouthfeel is exceptionally smooth and creamy. The flavor is loaded with chocolate and perfectly roasted malts, and brings on endless flavor changes in the mouth including ripe dark fruit and a ton of rotating floral hop flavors that make it the IPA it is. The finish shows IPA bitterness and some resin character. I am sort of hard pressed to describe everything that was going on here because before I knew it the bottle was gone and I was wanting more. A real winner of a beer. Strykzone (7351) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - MAY 13, 2012
Bomber from Hayduke. We shared it via facebook chat. This was very dark and had a tan head that settled with big bubbles bursting. The aroma was chocolate, anise, roasted notes, and swamp. The flavor began with chocolate and licorice but there was so much going on and so many layers to the flavor. Quite late I was finally able to taste hops and they were citrus and grassy. This beer kept changing personalities and was a blast to taste. I knew there were hops in there but had to peel back layers of other interesting flavors before they were exposed. As well as interesting this beer was also quite tasty. What fun to try. Fortunately I had a bomber and not just a few ounces because the complexity required some time to explore. daleharshman (1064) - Escondido, California, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Bomber purchased at BevMo in Escondido ($5.99). Pours very dark brown with a bit of reddish highlight and three fingers of dark tan foam. Aroma has major pine forest off the bat followed by citrus, dark roasted malts, smoky chocolate, and moderate coffee. Flavor starts off hoppy with citrus and pine notes but is soon overtaken by the black part of "Black IPA" with notes of cocoa powder, roasted nuts, spicy rye, dark chocolate, and some earthy coffee. Creamy mouthfeel with well-concealed ABV. Good one for the style and quite a nice price. (31, 698) blankboy (7689) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 11, 2012
Bottle [660ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus c/o Brock. Pours dark brown with light red hues, a bit oily looking, and a small
diminishing frothy tan head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, leafy
hops, chocolate, some coffee and a hint of spice. Flavour of roasted malt, light spice, coffee, leafy hops and chocolate. Alcohol well hidden. Medium bodied, almost-creamy mouthfeel. Quite good, I enjoyed it.
